Talk Talk - Colour Of Spring

I like that Talk Talk album, but if you can get hold of their subsequent album, Spirit of Eden, that is astonishing. Apparently it's considered to be the first post-rock album(?). Their last album, Laughing Stock, is also good, although I don't like it quite as much, and Mark Hollis's solo album from 1998 is fine as well, although only available on CD.

I have every Talk Talk album, bit of a fan. Laughing Stock is the equal of Spirit Of Eden for me, though I'm not a big fan of the Mark Hollis solo album. I had this http://www.discogs.com/Allinson-Brown-AV-1/release/755652 which has a Mark Hollis track on it, and he features along with other Talk Talk contributors, but I sold it when I was a bit skint some years ago. It's worth checking out though if you like SOE and LS. There's also the 'O' Rang stuff, which certainly has it's moments.

Oh thanks. Sorry, didn't mean to teach you to suck eggs, assumed you'd picked up The Colour Of Spring on a whim. I wasn't aware of the Allinson/Brown and 'O' Rang stuff, I'll look into it.

Not a problem.☺

I bought TCOS recently, because I thought my copy was a fame reissue, it wasn't, so I've now got two copies.

Both great records.

I hope so. Taking a punt on the Galaxie 500, as it was from the same seller as TMC, and a good price.

A charity shop purchase for a pound. Wasn't sure what it was, everything was written in Portuguese, but I thought it was worth a gamble. Playing it now, and it's Brazilian Bossa Nova, and really rather good. Glad I bought it. *smile*

Just ordered the MOV reissue of Santana's 'Abraxas'. My original is worn out.

I have the same reissue, and it is really rather good.

Worth waiting for then I guess and it looks like I am going to have to as Audio Affair appears to have gone the way of snvinyl in that 'our shipment has been delayed' carp!.

I guess that's what you get when you go for the cheapest deal on the web ...... they don't actually have one for sale in the first place. I'll give them 2 weeks.

Internet retailers who don't accurately show stock levels are commonplace and very annoying! I have started ordering over the web from my local record shop. I pick up in person as it's an excuse to paw through their shop stock *biggrin*

i am the same. When I first got back into vinyl I was using a shop in South Wales and buying mail order, I started to get fed up when I would order something and it would take over a month to come Ashley didn't have it I stock. They didn't have a note of whether it was in stockor not.

I subsequently found ResidentRecords in Brighton. I am in Worthing. Their web page shows if the item is in stock so I order from them and then have an excuse for a family day in Brighton and a good mooch around the shop.

their website actually warns you that not everything listed as in stock is physically in the shop so phone first before going. If you order over the Internet they email you when it's ready for collection, never had to wait 24 hours for an instock item to be ready for collection.
