There are two charity shops quite near me, but they're not actually shops, they're large industrial units, so they have a lot of space. One of them has probably close to 4000 records, but they're nearly all sh*t, so you have to devote a bit of time to search through them.

If I didn't work and could devote more time in the week, I'd be picking up some real treasures. Sometimes I'm quite lucky, sometimes not.

I never bought the vinyl at the time, opting for the later CD versions. Recent events and availability have prompted me to buy the following...

David Bowie - 'Hunky Dory'

David Bowie - 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust'

David Bowie - 'Aladdin Sane'

It's my understanding that the more recent re-masters are pretty good.

All ordered through Amazon, so fingers crossed there won't be any problems.

I've ordered 'The Next Day' and the standard version of 'Blackstar'. I have the clear vinyl limited editon with lithographs, but I don't want to open it, let alone play it.

I absolutely love In A Silent Way. A stunning album. Miles Ahead is also good. If they are in decent condition, you'll enjoy those two a lot.

They are both U.S 1987 remastered pressings, and are both close to perfect.

Just played Miles Ahead, and enjoyed it, though I wasn't blown away by it. Now Playing In A Silent Way, and this is definitely my kind of thing. I'm guessing it came out around the same time as Bitches Brew? It certainly sounds like it did.

Yes, In A Silent Way came out a year before Bitches Brew. It was the first proper electric jazz album, although his previous two albums had some electric elements.

It is a great album. This may be heresy on this section of the forum but I have the Complete In Silent Way cd boxset, its fascinating as it shows the progress of the tunes from 'normal' to electric. All very good.

By units do you mean the industrial type as in warehouses?

*biggrin*

No, but I could do with one.

Would it help if I took your wallet and gave you 20p pocket money each Saturday? Mind you, you'd probably find half a dozen records for 20p...
