Lord help me! I have an addiction.

31 records bought for £20 (including some good ones)

Would it help if I took your wallet and gave you 20p pocket money each Saturday? Mind you, you'd probably find half a dozen records for 20p...

Maybe.

I make that around 80 records bought this month. I must stop.

Hmm, and their last album weren't much cop either. Not sure I'll bother. But thanks for letting us know, I'll give it a listen!

Steve Hackett - Defector (£1)

And pilfered from my Dad's collection:

While I was round my Mum and Dad's earlier, I spotted a John Coltrane album 'Sun Ship'. 'I'll have that' I said to my Dad. 'No! I haven't played that one, and I like John Coltrane' he replied. Anyway, within an hour or so, and soon after I'd got home, I received a phone call. 'You can have it' he said, 'it's insane' *lol*

I've since discovered it on You Tube, and he might well be right, but I can't wait until I go round to pick it up. *yahoo*

'Sun Ship' is one of the final 'Trane quartet recordings and is. in my opnion, wildly beautiful perhaps a little 'out there' for your dad. Hope you enjoy it, BBB.

...another one I brought down recently:

Eric Andersen: 'Ghosts Upon The Road'. One of the most evocative songwriters; more emotional pain and romantic disappointments. Absolutely beautiful.

I don't think my dad got past the first track, which from what I heard, was probably the most 'out there' track, and the one I liked most on first listen.

My dad has several hundred records, with most being Jazz, but not my kind of Jazz. He's a big fan of Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington, as well as a lot of Big Band stuff.

Sunship sounds interesting – I don't know that one but will investigate. I only have Blue Train and A love Supreme (my favourite of what I know) on LP, and the two Village Vanguard gigs on CD.

Yesterday, picked up:
Savages – Silence Yourself
Lucy Ward – I Dreamt I Was A Bird... – a replacement for a faulty copy, and also massively hissy. Pah.
and a 12-CD set of John Dowland's complete works performed by Consort of Musicke, but obviously we don't talk about CDs here...

picked up yesterday from my local record shop, individually numbered, black & white coloured 180g vinyl, 4 page booklet and very nicely presented inside a plastic outer cover, well worth the £24 I paid for it, I may get another as it's too nice to open.

*music2*

ps. picked up the newly issued "Top Gun" soundtrack on vinyl at the same time.

Nice one. Always rated the movie and have it on blu-ray. Just got to get the vinyl. Classic soul. Think the first 1000 are numbered.

But was sorely tempted to buy a few in HMV yesterday. Re-issues of some of my clapped-out vinyls. Problem is, they were re-mastered, which usually means they don't sound so good...

They are going to sound better than your clapped-out ones though. ;-)

FWIW quite a few reissues are actually better than the originals.
