So you're going on a trip to Amsterdam and you want to know where the record shops are........

Am I right in thinking you still live at home with your Mum?

🙂

No. I've no interest in the coffee shops anymore, and as I'll be with my wife, I'm not sure she'd appreciate me visiting De Wallen, though I think we might have a look together.

It may be a bit boring, but I'd rather buy records these days.

Kenny Dalglish lives there. If it's good enough for Kenny......

The traffic lights changing is the most exciting thing that happens there.

After a lot of thought about whether I really wanted it enough to order it from the other side of the world i finally ordered Kacey Musgrave - Pageant Material. Normally popular country tends sound a little too polished for me but damn if this isn't just a whole new level of fun. Undervalued on the customs label so without the tax and customs charges it was pretty reasonable.

The other one was facilitated by a major change of heart. Ryan Adams - Ten Songs From Live at Carnegie Hall. I'd always thought Ryan Adams was a bit wet but this record has forced me to admit i was wrong. A beautiful recording, looking forward to seeing what i might have missed in his back catalogue.

this is on my, "to buy" list.

It's not a lot like their previous offerings. More laid back, rocky rather than heavy. They're touring soon and well worth seeing live.

Car boot this morning:

Beethoven - The Nine Symphonies Box Set (Otto Klemperer) - £2 in mint condition

Then this batch for £4

Simple Minds - Live In The City Of Light

Holst - The Planets (Sir Adrian Boult)

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

David Bowie - The World Of David Bowie

Yazoo - You & Me Both

All in very good condition

Also a Lord Of The Rings RISK board game for £1

Worth getting up at 7am for 🙂

I had the chance to watch them several years ago as they were supporting Metallica at the time.

unfortunately, I got a bit too attached to the vip bar at the venue and completely missed them.

Book of Souls on triple vinyl arrived today. Looks amazing. I'll be giving it a spin tomorrow.

I'm a fan of the 1980s stuff. Would be interested to know how it compares.

Charity shop in Farnham yesterday - has a stack of 12" singles.

Was amazed to find a pristine copy of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" for £2 - always wanted to own that.

This is hi-fi. Life is never complete. There's always more money that can be spent 😉

I was warned about this when I decided to get back into this particular hobby.

I go through phases of buying vinyl - bought a few reissues recently (carefuly researched though) but cant beat buying 2nd hand records, getting them home, quick clean, new anti stat sleeve then lowering that stylus down then sitting back to enjoy - you just dont get that with CD, best of all the CD has nothing on the SQ.........but as we know thats open to debate

Well, I haven't yet found the time "90 odd mins" to listen to this on the turntable. So, I had to make do with a ripped cd in the car. *scratch_one-s_head*

first opinion is very good, it sounds like they've put a lot of work into this album.

It has a good vibe to it, slightly like piece of mind and powerslave, but slowed down.

I like it.

Looking forward to hearing it on the turntable at home as it sounds very good production wise.

Is it? People are still "debating" that? (grins manically)

For about £20 I got a stack of 12" singles all of which except one are pristine including: 49ers - Touch Me (never owned that before) and The KLF - Justified and Ancient (good fun), plus that Don Henley one and others. They weren't that cheap back in the day, when I used to spend £50 a week on 12" singles in HMV Oxford Circus every Monday after work.

I'll need to buy another one of those metal record boxes soon. The left hand side of our living room is basically blocked off with those all the way along the wall. I have a tolerant partner.

get yourself to ikea and buy the Kallax storage shelving, those record boxes must look hideous - i still have all my 12" dance music too, but its not really me anymore Ive played a few and to be honest they dont sound anything special on a decent hifi rig, remember how dance music is produced its all samples and drum machines and digital synths.
