Amplifier - Mystoria

I bought that one when it came out. Love it.

.Wow, just checking it out on Spotify, brilliant... never heard of them before. This is what I love about this section!

Take a listen to their Octopus album at high volume. Powerful stuff.

Will do, thanks for the recommendation, next on the playlist! Ta

Bought at my local HMV for £14.99, and I still had £3.00 on an old voucher I hadn't used, so just £11.99.

It arrived yesterday, bought from Juno Records. I haven't got round to opening it, let alone playing it yet, but the cover looks classy.

I've heard a couple of tracks from the album so far, which sounded great.

Well I'm glad I just opened it, it has the same label on both sides of the record. I know some records areworth a damn sight more with this kind of fault, but I'm not sure this album will.

Better contact Juno before they sell out.

It sounds great, and the clear vinyl looks stunning, but I've already contacted Juno for an exchange.

Juno was very good about taking back and refunding (including my return postage) an LP I bought from them earlier this year that had pretty poor SQ. Hopefully you won't have any problems. I doubt I'd go to all the hassle of returning an LP just because one of the labels was incorrect, though - as you said, it's unlikely to affect the value, and if you know that this copy has decent SQ, why risk the next one being rubbish?

I know what you're saying, but it's a pain trying to workout which side is which, plus, if I pay well over £20 for a record, I want it to be perfect, and that includes the labels.

I bought the Pixies - Death To The Pixies 10" box set when it came out, and when I finally got around to playing the last record, I found it played the same tracks on both sides. This might make it more valuable, I'm not sure, but I've never quite understood how records having faults can make them more valuable, I guess it's the rarity factor.

Having been away for over a week, I'm wondering what goodies are waiting for me when I turn up at work tomorrow morning - it could be an early Christmas... :)

I think it's exactly that, and the collector's sense of 'I've got something which no one else has got, which makes me better than everyone else'. (Come on, we can all admit to a bit of that, can't we?)

Personally I'd have no interest in a pressing that had the same audio on both sides (or was faulty in some other way). I suppose if I thought it was likely to be worth more than the standard version, I might keep it and buy a correct copy, and hope to sell the faulty one at a profit a bit later. But I'm less bothered about a wrong label, and given the troubles I've had with recent pressings, so many with audible flaws of one kind or another, I'd be tempted to keep the copy with the dodgy label if the audio was perfect, to save the hassle of returning and hoping for a better one. I've had to return a couple of records two or even three times. I really hope companies sort out their pressing process, because it needs to improve. The one company I've reliably had perfect pressings from is Domino (two Anna Calvi LPs plus Immunity by Jon Hopkins), and I heard a few months ago that they are moving their pressing to a new plant... hope it won't be worse.
