And Yes .... besides the criticism, cepticism, and other "ism" even the manufactures were caught by surprise... as they are not producing enough 3d sets to satisfaid the demands ... so in my opinion 3d is really comming !

I have just purchased a 46" Samsung 3D TV with a 5-6 week delivery lead time, however if i had bought from the big players on the market (Currys,Comet) they were quoting 2-3 days, seems they have snapped up all the current stock, but hey , i can wait a few weeks for a £400 discount and 0% finance!!!Roll on the world cup..

Deliberate marketing ploy gents. On release day they just send a few screens out to get everybody saying '3D is so utterly amazing it sold out on the first day, I MUST go and buy a 3D set as soon as they are back in stock!" I thnk you'll find this happened in the US as well. Rest assured the warehouse down the road from your local Currys will be full to the rafters of 3D screens. Don't be reeled in by the sneaky...........

Dont have Currys here , Portugal :)

But driving tomorrow 300 km to see 3d plasma , already saw 3d led - 2d picture excelent ( to my eyes ) 3d in the led - something was wrong (probably a incadescent strong white lamp above the set - indoor strong lightning) was making the active shuter frames notice inside the glasses causing desconfortable reaction, as aproxing the set (light efect diminish) also the problem disapear ... so im expetcing a good 3d demo , if not good to my eyes its not coming home !

Yea , i did notice that when demo'ing the Samsung it was like someone was turning the lights on and off in the shop. That was also something i noticed just as much on the Panasonic Plasma when viewing last weekend. I think Andrew is correct and to get full benefit you need a darkened room??

Thats true ... so to properly demo this tech stores should have apropriatly spaces to show this sets (if they want to sell of course)
Cause if was planning to buy this 3d led after test based only in his 3d capability i surely would not buy it !

and honestly i would leave the room be very ceptical about 3d ( under that wrong conditions ) ....

So, to see these TVs doing their thing the whole family needs to wear daft glasses, and you need to have the room darkened down - not adding to the appeal, is it...?

humm ... i understand your point and the family point also .. but i see 3d viewing diferently

i see 3d viweing ocasionaly , few times a week , some movies , program , sports , pontual views that imo worth willing to darkneed the room and wear the glasses ( at least at this time , with this technology)

I guess in a near future we can have 3d without glasses and normal lightning conditions , right now if we want to see 3d in our homes we must have the right conditions to see it under the current/present tech ...

when we go to the cinema with family and pay the premium ticket the room is also darkneed , i see only the screen and ocasionaly popcorns :)

CM7 is correct in what he says,3D is going to be for occasional viewing , i for one cannot wait for the 3D games on the PS3 that will be here shortly, the demos i have seen have been very, very impressive indeed, Games are also played generally on you own. 75 % of the time the kids are watching 2D cartoon network or tom and jerry, but if there is gonna be a top footy game on or i want to watch a good film then it will be great to put on my ugly glasses , dim down the lights and enjoy 3D . After all i could just as easily now spend £1500 pound on a good 2D TV without these additional benefits..

My set is 3d, but I can't say I'm particularly interested in it.

Maybe, maybe not, though I see your point. Certainly attempts to make 2d material appear 3d aren't worth bothering with. A 2d picture has a fantastic sense of depth to it as it is. I'll pass on Avatar, but I'll take the football, as long as you can guarantee Ferguson loses.

If you had not interst whatsoever in 3d tech / view you could have bought the v20 - at least the same 2d PQ as Vt20 and save some pennies ... but i think you wanted to make a concious buy thinking about the future , therefore valueing or considering 3d ..

Some are taking the 3s thing too personally I think, it may sell a millions sets on start and then fade or the opposite, this is a gamble tv companies are palying because since now there is not too much 3d material, and no one can say if it will be good for long runs and practicity, because you enjoy 2 hours at the cinema does not mean it will be enjoyable at home, as some said you will need darker rooms, a lot of glasses for lots of people and from my cinema experience the image is extremly darkened, and on a long time it is relly tiring, as for the long Avatar, which i preffered in 2d............

As you're in Portugal, i assume you're probably receiving either MEO or Digital+?

I wasn't aware MEO were broadcasting much 3D , apart from tennis recently, and a demo loop.
