:bounce: How much advantage do front ported speakers have over rear ported speakers, OR vice-versa ?

Positioning Soundstage etc. .....

ports produce low level midrange noise (a by-product) so if they are positioned at the back of the speakers this noise is less likely to mix with original sound being generated by drivers.

on the other hand back firing posrts require more clearance from back wall. that might cause some problems with positioning in smaller rooms.

They are pretty similar.

Front ports may lead to a space problem at the design stage fitting it between the cones on the front and the bracing inside.

Back ports solve that but need more space from walls.
