Planet Earth Box set

Band of Bothers Box Set

Casino Royale

If
you want to be totally blown away by picture quality get a film called
"Baraka ". No plot, story or dialogue of any kind. just mind blowing
picture quality.

I would imagine Iron Man 2 and The Pacific will both have great sound quality.

John, just sat and watched the first in the Back To The Future Trilogy and it's absolutely breathtaking.....it's a movie I know like the back of my hand, went to see it back in 1985 when it first came out and have seen it many, many times since. However the Blu Ray copy takes it to a new level, for example, the part in the 'fish under the sea' dance where MJ Fox does his Chuck Berry impro was like hearing it for the first time! So much more detail and the feeling of actually 'being there'.

When the Delorean crashes through it's 88mph barrier the room shakes, the kids held on to each other and someone walking past my house jumped with fright!! Got 2 others to watch now.....

I though the latest Star Trek (2009) was brilliant for both visuals and audio. big fan of No Country for Old Men too.

Mr Kerr asked me recently what BluRay discs I use to impress my friends (for a blog piece he was doing). I said "um, I haven't got a Blu Ray player". He says "What?!?!??!!? Come this way young man...". And so it is that, armed with a Sony BDP-S373, my Diary of a Blu Ray Virgin piece is coming soon...

But to answer the question - Iron Man

bosshogg2000:What about iron man 2? Just released and according to audioholics it has an amazing soundtrack and excellent pic quality - ordered my copy today.

I hope you got it cheap- audio and film quality cannot make up for the fact that it is complete rubbish. I do not think I have seen a worse sequel ( or film for that matter)

OK im going to stick my neck out he then wait for the abuse. KING KONG ? For picture quality and the most tremendous movie surround sound , I watch this the other weekend and i was stuck in my seat with a big fat wow on my face from the start to finnish the sound wouldnt let me move. It is the best sounding movie to test your system for both bass and sorrund effects. From kongs roar to the insects every part of the movie was bliss and the picture quality is top notch. ARRR but the film your going to say. Its still worth the system test beleive me for a few quid for the extended version.

You won't get any abuse from me. While wandering around Best Buy or Currys Megastore (I can't remember which) a few months ago, the home cinema room had K.K on. It was the scene with the bi-planes and the Empire State building.

By far the most jaw dropping BD visuals I've ever seen. (TV was a high end Samsung IIRC).

It has to be Dark Knight!! My 1st and fave blu. Also Hurt Locker looks and sounds great, and on the cgi cartoon front (which u have to get at least 1 Pixar when going blu) go for Up!!

I agree, for PQ and SQ any Pixar film. All very well done to the point where they are all serious demo material.

Monsters Inc. for me though.

Well, took delivery of the new Pioneer Bdp lx52 yesterday and watched my 1st ever blu ray. It was.... The Hurt Locker!! Was very impressed with the picture. I wouldnt say blown away!! This is mainly down to the settings on the player. The Audio was very very good. A lot more precise. The explosion scene when the doctor buys it really attacked the sub and panned from the front to the back as the shockwave passed over the humvee!! Barrett .50cal was a great scene too. I would give 7/10 for the story. Watched in DTS HD Master Audio. Is this better than Dolby True HD??

Going to try and watch it again tonight and get the settings right on the player.

Anyone know the settings for the 52?? I think i am right in saying i want the amp to do the decoding as the audio is all passed over by hdmi.
