I am absolutely gobsmaked and disgusted with your respsonse. This is something that people can't just snap out of by recieving a dressing down or straight talking. You don't deal with it in this way, you make it worse.

have you ever suffered with depression major? You can't tell someone to just snap out of it; it's like having a broken arm that won't repair, it requires specialist help.

No I don't have have my tongue up his arse, I'm sticking up for him because I know a bully when I see 1; I've dealt with many before.

i tell you what Major, let's get what Hi-Fi involved and have a round table discussion and let's see if your comments are appropriate or not. We will see if you are right or wrong. In fact, this is classed as cyber bullying so you need to named and shamed and is not the norm on forums as you say!
Thanks for sticking up for me mate.

Back to my trusty olden but golden Pioneer bdp-lx71 Blu Ray player, nearly as good as 4K anyway, just missing a slight bit of brightness and darkness, all detail seems to be there. I think I am done with 4K again. I wish I kept with my Oled Lg 55ea980w to be honest but I have got the new one now and might as well enjoy it. I plan to keep it until it dies. My dad's Pioneer 427xd is still going strong at that must be 10 years old so there is no reason why this one can't keep as long. Picture quality doesn't change that much over the years, once you get a high end one there is really not much room for improvement.

good choice mate.

just because I don't know you personally or have known you as long as others on this forum, doesn't make it right to pick people up on their daily challenges.

all the best Gel and ignore the insensitive comments!

That Pioneer gel mentioned is a plasma, not LED. Besides, the latest generation LG OLED panels have a lifespan of 100000 hours, which is 30 years if you watch 10 hours a day:

LED panels have a lifespan of 60000 to 100000 hours:

So will a Xbox One S or One do Blu Ray and bitstream output to my amp, so it will work as a Blu Ray player and not as a 4K Blu Ray player with my amp? What about PlayStation 3 and 4 too, will they work?

yes all the consoles you mention will act as regular bluray players.

The Xbox One S is the only one that can play 4K blurays.(but not outputting in bitstream until an upcoming software update)

The original Xbox One cannot as far as I know output a bitstream signal. (I've not attempted this)

The Playstation 3 and 4 have no problems outputting a bitstream signal ( I know I have tried).

Hope this helps.

Ah cheers very helpful, I am thinking about the Playstation 3 then and I am going to trade in my old iPad 2 for it. Does it do master audio and Dolby true high definition? Cheers.

You really need to think why you would want a PS3. I've had to keep mine unplugged, because the very noisy fan keeps kicking off every now and then.
Cheers BB, I really want Virtua Tennis games and the PS3 is the only console I know that plays it.

I have been thinking about what BB says with the fan noise on the PS3 and decided or thinking about the PS4 now the slim one, does it play games in HDR on FIFA 17 through the disc?

I think the answer is no as looking at the specs for Fifa 17 there is no mention of HDR encoding on the disc, in fact I don't know of any games with HDR encoding as I think its to much of a new technology.

Playstation Slim has a noisy fan as I have the original standard sized console but if its like mine it only makes a small amount of noise which is easily drowned out by my home cimema system once I start watching a film or playing a game.

Thanks again. Do you just connect it by HDMI for watching a film or Blu Ray connected via the amp too? Does it play DVDs too? Ta

get Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master audio formats:

hdmi cable from Playstation 4 to A/V amp then another hdmi cable from amp to TV.

Sorry not sure if it plays DVD's as I've not tried (mainly use mine for games) but next time I use it I'll see what happens.

Hi gel,

Tried a dvd in my PS4 and happy to report that it plays perfectly, obviously the picture will not be as sharp as blu-ray but should be ok for what you need.

Now, on the subject of the PS4 being noisy and getting hot, I strongly disagree with what Blacksabbath25 says, at time of posting this reply I have just turned of my console after 4 hours of gaming, it is cold to the touch all over with no signs of heat anywhere, as to noise when you are wearing headphones and talking to others online, you don't hear anything, I think I said before that any reasonable home cinema amp will drown out any noise coming from the console.

To Blacksabbath25 I suggest that if your PS4 is making excessive noise and/or heating up then to take it back and get a replacement.
