Will Denon 1909 upscale PS3 games?

I have a ps3, a full HD (1080p) 40in samsung LCD with 1.3 HDMI cables at the ready. My question is this, will a denon 1909 be able to upscale 720p games (such as call of duty 4/5) into full 1080p with the proper connections.

Huh, only a PS3 will play PS3 games.

I hav heard that if you connect your ps3 to an upscaling reciever (such as the denon 1909) and then the reciever to the tv, that the reciever will upscale the 720p image it gets from the ps3 into 1080p, making edges slightly smother etc..?

I think the PS3 will actually do it itself, I'm sure I've seen an option for it in the menus.
Not to sure how good the results will be though, I've always left it on the native resolution.

if you type something like 'ps3 upscale games' into google, there are bags of articles saying, why did sony not ake upscaling for their games etc....in theory if this were true, would the denon 1909 upscale to 1080p, surely it would?
