They're here. 🙂 THAT'S ALL

Congratulations, but only for now I hope!

Are you planning to use them for music only or for AV duties too? Did you also get (or plan to get) the AVI sub?

p.s. photos please 🙂

Um. Considering what happened to my review not ever so sure I should post.

I've been listening pretty much non stop and I'm even more impressed than when I demoed. Over breakfast this morning I listened to Iron Maidens Final Frontier on my prev system then again on these. No comparison. I've never had a system that has done justice to Iron Maiden but these do.

Listened to lots of other stuff, and tbh can't believe my luck. I thought this level of SQ was beyond me.

I'll put a photo up when I can get to my pc. The Sonos is just sat on top of my RS6s at the mo so not a very elegant pic.

I have a room and separate 5.1 system that I'm really happy with. The 40s are in main living room which although biggish 19x13) there's really only one place for them. I only use TV in there for hour or so a month and they can't sit either side of it so not too bothered.

No plans for sub. IMO they don't need one.

Oh. And they were delivered and installed by Ashley from AVI.

Richard, please do post your thoughts on how they compare to your current set up, I'm sure there'll be plenty that will be genuinely interested to hear them, I'm looking forward to the pics too 🙂

That's quite a service!

Regarding the sub I quite agree, I was home alone the other night and really cranking up the volume with Nirvana, Rage against the machine, etc. I find it hard to believe that two smallish drivers can produce such bass depth and impact whilst remaining so clear and detailed.

As I already own the sub (bought for the 9s), I'm looking forward the the sub modifications to allow me to enable the 100Hz crossover to see what it does the the SQ.

I really do urge people to hear them if they can. Had them on pretty much continually yesterday for 12 hours. I can't get enough. I feel so lucky to have them its getting emotional. Saying that, I shallbe sorry to see the RS6s go. They've served well in my hi-fi, HC and back again. Had them a few years now but the GS10s fit really well in the HC so something has to give. I hesitate to say it but I have my doubts about the Roksan K2 amp. Whilst it initially impressed but that may have been the guiltiest party in my set up. I can't be sure about it. And better people than me WHF awarded it 5 stars. Like I said in my other thread I don't doubt that for 3k you could build a nice system. But I couldn't. The AVIs are beyond anything I imagined I'd be able to afford. If you've got these on order. Be confident. They're more than you're expecting.

Dan. I urge you to buy a copy of The Dark knight soundtrack in readiness for your 40s.

When you play it through you'll know why 🙂

I have been very close to contacting AVI and ordering some ADM40s but I'd want them in Rosewood and the extra £750 seems quite a lot.

Ha ha, I've got it on spotify premium!

Yeah. I fancied the Rosewood but the extra £750 was hard to justify. Mine are cherry and look lovely. The 9s I demoed were in walnut and they are very nice too.

My dad who has absolute no interest in hi fi commented on the quality of the cabinets.

I really like the look with the grills on - clean and simple. Congrats on the new setup!

I've always found the 9Ts on the big and ugly side and don't like the 40s with the grill on, but with the grill on and that finish, I'm sold on the look. Maybe I need to start saving for a pair of 40s!

BLIMEY CHARLIE! I'm sure it was "only" an extra 300 or so not so long ago???

Thanks Andrew.

I was pasting the URL using the green tree but just kept showing an empty image with a little red cross in it.

The Sonos is the only thing staying. Perched on top of a pair of RS6s won't be a permanent thing 🙂

Ok.

For context, I've lived with the ADM9Ts for over a year and the ADM sub for about six months so I think I'm familiar with what they can do. They (the '9Ts) are very clear, smooth, dynamic and precise and would probably kick most of what passes for HiFi into a cocked hat.

The ADM40s are on another level and, played at realistic levels with good recordings (e.g. typical classical material), create a stunningly lifelike soundstage or, to use a popular audiophile term, they're exceptionally "musical".

OK, that's it! This thread needs to be locked. All this talk about the ADM40s make me want to get one so bad!

£3000, just order a pair and they'll be made for you. Forget returns though, because as they're made to order AVI don't have to take them back if you don't like them (unless they have a fault). Worth bearing in mind if you can't get to a demo. On the other hand, they're apparently brilliant. The choice is yours. 🙂
