Quiet on this thread lately, everyone must be off on holiday.

Anyway listening to a bit of Eric Clapton tonight, this one from his drinking period, a few years before his 20+ days at the Royal Albert Hall...

180g Vinyl (New) Well my original copy is nearly worn out.

From the same place that I got mine ( Those Old Records) perchance?

No, I got it from Reckless Records in Berwick Street London for £12. NEMS 180gr. Sounds better that my original copy but the 180g seems a lot lighter than the Thin Lizzy and Back to Black 180g stuff I've bought recently. I'd forget about Rugeley (easy to I suppose)

Dave ,

I think I might join you later , but unfortunately the wife doesn't like it loud so I will have to wait until next week when she goes off to her mother's for a few days before cranking up the volume . Then I can give my new turntable a good workout .

Neither does mine, not that I have it at foundation shaking volumes anyway, but certainly louder than she likes. When we bought our current house a few years ago, first and foremost we had to have two rooms, TV in one and Hi-Fi in the other. Nice old 1940's semi with good thick walls to keep everyone happy

.

Anyway, keeping in her good books at the moment...

I like the idea of having two rooms , one for the TV and one for the HIFI. The only difference is that they are in different buildings ! Hers is in the " cowshed" ( I'll explain it one day, and I'm not being derogatory) and mine in my "sanctuary" above the garage . It is not actually like that yet , but I'm working on it .

Just finished Focus 3 at moderate volume . Now listening to Tago Mago by Can , but only on CD .

A bit more Doors for me too. I bought this one after I watched Apocalypse Now in the 80's, so its not on the original vinyl, in fact its very thin and flimsy, typical 80's vinyl. Remarkably it plays perfectly, so it just goes to show you dont always need 180gm vinyl to get good results.

You can buy this superb debut album at Amazon for only £10.99, on 180gm vinyl by Rhino Records.

You're so right DIB, I have some thinner vinyl and the sound quality is amazing on it :)

I managed to pick a copy of that album up from RSD last weekend.....its the 180gm vinyl but the mono version. The Doors sound absolutely amazing in mono and was well chuffed with my copy.

Summers here (well nearly!), and its the first carboot of the year for me
smiley-smile.gif
. There's a guy who I think is a bit of a dealer too who always has a good selection at my local park car boot. The LP's are reasonably priced and he always cleans them up before he puts them out for sale. Picked up a few today, well 7 for £21, so £3 per LP is my sort of price.

Listening to this one currently, one by one of my favourite prog bands from the 70/80's Camel...
