Certainly not one of his best, the title should really be "Odds & Sods", I can't remember quite why I bought this at the time. However, as always there's glimpses of his genius at work on this disc...

Classic Santana, this was a cheap CBS "Nice Price" re-issue from the 80's, sounds fantastic though. A great test for your hi-fi this recording...

You've surprised me, I can't believe you didn't buy this in the 70s. Absolutely classic album.

Indeed, but I was potless in the 70's, there were loads of LP's that got away. Making up for it now mind

PS. Still potless!

) I will play the blue LP version of yours in a bit.

Hey Thaiman,

If you're a Linda Ronstadt fan then I can't recommend this album enough to you,not available on vinyl I'm pretty certain, but the CD is in my all-time top 3 of anybody. Sublime...

Deftones - Covers

Same.

Excellent Japan, Duran Duran and Cardigans covers.

My copy's a bit warped. How's yours, Jason? Don't know if I should replace it or not.

Sound-wise v. good, though.

Hi mate,

No problem with my copy at all and it does sound amazing though as cover albums go :)

Thing is, unlike yourself I do listen to a lot of internet radio (especially Radio Paradise - brilliant)

Great station! Can't listen to it for more than a couple of hours, though. Makes me feel a bit depressed :)

No what you mean, but I don't get depressed at all. Probably says a lot about me! ( as I type The Smiths are on, so you may have a point)

Bill, who runs it, must have the best voice in radio.

Having watched my 51st FA Cup final yesterday afternoon, and with the wife going out for the night I had a good session on the vinyl. I couldn't post anything last night as the laptop password had been changed and I could not remember it. So I played the following

31KPbZiI51L._SL500_AA300_.jpg
51d1jWNDCpL._SL160_AA160_.jpg

51%2B7W57cplL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Only played side 2 of Dire Straits and side 1 of Pat Benatar and also played sides 3 and 4 of the very best of the Doors.
Played a few tracks of Thin Liizy Black Rose of CD

and finished with CSNY Deja Vu, a very good night and all with the Gale 301 standmounts from 1986 and didn't they sound good, a little thin at the top end at times but i'll need to put the 684s back on at sometime but I can see me upgrading next year to some Standmounts (circa £2000), only problem is they need to fit in with the AV set up unless I bash the chimney breast out and that's unlikely. Rock on.

Old age comes to us all.

I thought we were still young isn't 60 the new 40 or something. I'm on the CDs as I've done my back in, Electric Ladyland at the moment. It saves keep getting up.

I bought the LP version of Electric Ladyland last week off Ebay ( The British version with those ladies with minimal clothing on the cover) as was very disappointed to find it significantly more scratched than the description suggested . The seller said that the condition of the records was v.good , I would say that at the best it was fair . My dilemma is , do I send it back or accept it and put up with the crackles . Having "only" paid £21 for it and knowing that they tend to fetch more than this , I am in a bit of a quandary . Intellegent suggestions welcome ,

Nick

If I'd paid £21.00 for a 2nd hand VG LP and it turned out as "Fair" then I think I'd be looking for a refund or at least a sizeable discount.

I've bought several 2nd hand LP's off Ebay but I reckon the most I've paid is about £4 or £5 max so I'm not really expecting mint or VG to be honest, though I've been fortunate more often than not. I think the worst I got was described as VG but was quite crackly and I'd only paid £1.99 for it. Thats just the luck of the draw I suppose but £1.99 is different to £21.00.

How many people actually know how to grade an LP correctly?

You need a Music Server mate. No need to get up and change the CD every 60 minutes or so.

Then you need to get a Food Server and a Drinks Server and finally a Remote Server . If you managed to find a way to also visit the bathroom without moving you need never leave your chair again !

Advantages of a Turntable are the exercise and the quality of the sound.
