After a week of frustrations and feeling near bubbling point quite a bit, I indulged in 'Someone Here Is Missing' by The Pineapple Thief on my drive to work this morning. I think most of the M1 in Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire probably heard it too. Great band, and they were outstanding live when I saw them a few years ago. They have a new live DVD/CD due for release in September and I'm very much looking forward to that.

I was listening to that too on holiday by the pool a couple of weeks ago

, an excellent album. They also benefit these days from having the wonderful Gavin Harrison on drums, one of the very best drummers I've had the privilege to see live.

Hey Mac, the Stevens album you mention is brilliant, of course. The new one,a collaboration, is nothing in the same style. It is an instrumental album from what I remember, but very interesting, and beautiful. I was surprised.

I went to see the Stevie Nimmo Trio last night, and what a truly wonderful performer he is. If you're into blues rock then I would urge you to go and see him, you wont be disappointed.

This particular album however is not reflective of his live band, more a homage to his love of Americana. A superb album.

ps: you should also check out his younger brother's (Alan Nimmo) band, King King too.

Definitely have to give those two a listen - thanks mathewpiano and mac.

I must recommend an old one - Benefit by Jethro Tull - Definitely the best and most innovative album they did.

cheers tonky

Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, Overnight

Their latest album, took a while for me to get into it, but now I hear its beauty

Shear Heart Attack - Queen

This album captured a vibrancy and excitement - which to my ears - was never recaptured by them in subsequent recordings inmho.

A lovely late night listening album to take you to that relaxing trouble free place .

Offa Rex - The Queen Of Hearts.

This is the first album by this band, made up of Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists, and it's one of the most wonderful folk-rock records released in a very long time. The influences of seminal bands like Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention and the Albion Band are there to be heard, but the treatments are fresh, beautifully sung and extremely well played. Musicianship runs through this album in a very rich seam. Beautifully recorded too.

Off to take a listen Matthew.

Very good album... The Decemberists are a band I've struggled to get into, but this collaboration works very well.

Susanne Sundfor - Take One.

An absolutely beautiful live recording of Susanne Sundfor playing the Piano / guitar and singing in a room with a microphone .

She is better known for her complex but beautiful electronic music but this cd is the polar opposite.

I have just managed to pick up a copy of this rare Cd direct from Norway and I am a very happy bunny. *i-m_so_happy*

Utterly captivating ! I think you might like this one Mac.

White Ward - Futility Report

Black metal with an ambient/post rock twist and they even fit a sax into the mix. Brilliant band from the Ukraine.

There's a really nice Susanne Sundfor track on this month's Uncut free CD. It's called Undercover and from the Music For People In Trouble album.

Yes that's the single she released as a taster for her new album out soon .

I have just bagged a couple of tickets to see her live at the Union Chapel in October.

I think all the normal ticket sellers have sold out now but you can still get tickets direct from the Union Chapel but hurry they won't be around for long .
