Well I never.....your talk of our potential overlapping tastes in that other thread Frog - I mentioned that Mogwai single in the "CDs you can't live without" thread as one of their best singles (recorded by Shellac's Steve Albini as it happens)....awesome track!

I love Mogwai, and yep, MFMK is indeed excellent. I saw them live at Manchester Acadamy a few years ago, and they were fantastic. Pity some stupid woman near me kept talking in the quiiet bits!

You really should listen to A century ends too... Quite a brilliant, emotional, and fairly angry album.

Have managed to see Mogwai 5 times over the years - always great. Missed then in Belfast two nights ago when they were supporting Flaming Lips though - heard the sound was below par though so it has softened the blow...a bit.
Will throw caution to the wind and give A Century Ends a go when I get a chance.

Bruce Springsteen - Magic (cd)

Manic Street Preachers - Send Away The Tigers (cd)

Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing At Baxters (cd)

Crosby, Stills and Nash - Crosby, Still and Nash (cd)

Currently, a couple of Decemeberists albums, Castaways and Cutouts and Her Majesty the Decemberists.

Not that they're hugely popular, but I'm still strangely miffed that more and more people have heard of them now. They're one of the few bands I've been keen on early enough to feel like they were my little secret.

For reviews purposes I've been listening to Miranda Barber and The Script, keep your eyes on The Leisure Lab next week for reviews of both of them.

Last week's music reviews were Donkey by CSS and Replica Sun Machine by The Shortwave Set.

Both of which were good, but for my tastes not quite as good as The Slip

Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time (vinyl)

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (vinyl)

Diamond Head - Canterbury (vinyl)

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak (vinyl)

DIO - Sacred Heart (vinyl)

I haven't listened to anything by Maeror Tri for a while, I'd forgotten how their wonderful music just makes you drop whatever you are doing...
