There are lots of very positive reviews about this projector, with very few indicating any significant issues. While I'm trying to wait for the Whathifi review before considering one, I'm very tempted. Does anyone have any experience with one of these, or actually have one they might be able to offer an opinion on? Thanks!

Quick google kickstarter project 4k unknown unit @ £2695

Optoma UHZ65LV extra £200 & looks a better bet from a known brand

That's true. I've seen a few of the early "loan" units available for around £2,000 or even a little less with little or no use, so tempted by those. The Optoma is certainly an interesting alternative. Nearly all the reviews of the Valerion seem to be that it is very impressive, but keen to find out if that may be over-hyped. Hope Whathifi team get one to look at soon.

You need to demo the projector. I was keen on the Optoma UHZ65LV and had denied it alongside Sony VPL-W5000ES at Richer Sounds and it was a no contest. The Sony was far superior with true cinematic effect. They had open box Sony units for cheaper so I ended up getting the Sony..

I won't worry about relatively unknown brand of Valerion as it's available from several mainstream retailers like RS and PT. So you will have peace of a warranty. You should ask your local Richer Sounds to arrange a demo and compare with your other options.

Yes, they're both not native 4K but native ones may be out of our budget.
