I have a set of 1.5 meter Qed Original speaker cable (3meters), i want to try this van damme http://www.whathifi.com/forum/accessories/van-damme-cables that many talk so positive about, but i only need 3 meter about 9 feet and i live in Denmark so they must be able to send it to denmark. I can only find this offer and i am not shure if they send to Denmark http://www.amazon.co.uk/Van-Damme-4-00mm-speaker-interconnect/dp/B009M3LN0C

Any one who knows where i can get it at a good price? (i want the 4.00 mm)

I have som Dali zensor 1 and if you would recommend me something else i would consider that

Not sure best to contact them. Also there a few sellers on ebay that maybe worth checking. here is one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Van-Damme-LC-OFC-4-0mm-Hi-Fi-Loudspeaker-Cable-/121076111972?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item1c30b2da64

Or this one ships worldwide:

It is often sold by electrical suppliers but you may have to buy quite a lot. Do you have anything like Maplins in Denmark.

What do you think is best (just ordered 3 meter of the audioquest, cause in denmark it's only slightly more expensive then the Qed Original i have, which i can't get with free delivery, the Audioquest is with free delivery so the price is almost the same, costs me a few bucks to take the train to get the Qed cable)

Audioquest FLX SLiP 14/4 (Is it 4x2.5mm or 4x14awg which is about 4x1.6 mm?)

or

Van Damme UP LC-OFC (still interested to try the cable)

If i buy mabye the van damme cable next month or in 2 month, i vill know that for my money i can't get a more reasonable priced cable then the classic Qed (original), the product of the year 2012 from Audioquest and the highly prasied van damme and if i want something better i have to spend a lot of money (if i can get somthing noticable better)

The van daam cable has no sheathing though- just bare cables. That's what I have just now- Cambridge audio ultra 100 which looks similar to the van daam but its silver plated. I put up a post asking if more metal is important or more sheathing and didn't really get a definitive answer. So why are the van daam rated so highly if they are just pure copper like many other speaker cables? Not like they have had any extensive sheathing design :s

I think Van Damme are highly rated because they are very good value for money, they are the type of cable you buy on a drum of 100m and is used by pro fitting out out studios and concert halls look on their website, it is not fancy hifi cable that is marked up in price, the mark on on accessories is quite high, so a VD cable which cost £5m is as good as many hifi cable which cost x5 as much. As for thickness it depends on the length the longer the the thicker it should be, 2.5mm should be fine for shorter runs, 4mm maybe better for medium to long runs.

Here is something about shielded cable:

If Audioquest is reasonably priced in Denmark, you might give Audioquest Type 4 a try.

Not type 4, FLX SLiP 14/4 is resonabley priced because of free delivery(delivery almost as much as 1 mtere cable), type 4 is about 75-80% more expensive then the FLX SLiP 14/4 that i alreday have bought (the FLX SLiP14/4 cable)

I also want to try the audioquest cable, if i can hear a difference between the Qed and the cable from Audioquest i might buy (in a few weeks, month) the van damme cable to se what all the fuss is about this cable and to get my on opinion on what's the best resonably priced speaker cable for my system. I mean very often you can't buy some speaker cable, take the home to listen to and get your money back if yout don't like it, also in a store you don't get to hear many different cables before you deside which one to buy. So with cables you just have to read reviews and the buy some to try and se if they are any good for your system.

I once had a system of mainly rotele the 965bx le cd player i upgraded to discrete le, 2 RC -980BX power amps and huge audiovector 5's danish high end speakers i could tri wire (3 cables) i used audioquest type 14 for the midrange and tweeter (only 1 set) and a set of expensive Audioquest midnight (think it was the first version) for the bass, because i love bass (the speakers had each 2x8" bas) that was a mistake because the tweeter and midrange sounded much more right (soft smooth)using the good cables for the tweeter and midrange, so i think it's possibel to hear differences with speaker cables

Is van Daams blue or black cable better than the OFC one? The former seem to have better sheathing properties. Which one is the one everyone raving about?

The OFC is better and more expensive than the Blue or black. Black is similar to blue but thicker and less flexible, more suitable for heavy use.

For UK residents, Maplins sell Van Damme Blue at a fair price.
