So, pardon my ignorance, but apart from the thrill of shelling out twice the price, what is the benefit of the 4mm version over the 2.5mm? Why pay the extra? Indeed, how does the 6mm improve things? In what way is the 2.5mm "fine for most people"?

I am tempted to try some of this 'wonder cable'. Maybe I can ditch the various others I have lying around.

Oh, and 'bump' again!

The thicker the cable the less the resistance. 2.5mm would be fine for most people as only long lengths (lets say over 10m) would benefit from 4mm due to the loss of signal (And other technicalities)

In short lengths there would be zero (or very close to zero) difference. If the speakers are hard to drive, then 4mm might be preferable (Especially if theyre rated 4ohms or less)

Go googling if youd like to find out more

I would concur with Rick as far as long runs are concerned.

It seems to me that most people buy thin cable for their surround speakers because understandable it is easier to run and cheaper and thoughts are that surrounds are not so important , when perhaps they should use 4mm

As I have 4ohm front speakers I use 4mm because of the reasons by Rick

A good resource I found which convinced me of this was at

Well, with the Spendor S3e speakers we are talking a nominal impedence of 8ohms (min rated at 6.8) with 86db sensitivity and cables would be no more than 3.5m in length. So, is it 2.5mm at £2.15/m, or 4mm at £3.19/m? I'm poised...

Thanks, I think I'll place an order shortly and see if I can offload all those premium brands onto Fleabay in the autumn! Or maybe WHF will have a 'classifieds' section soon?

Hi guys, does someone have experience with the 268-544-000, 268-582-000 or 268-565-060?

6345789 is my personal fave.

Just Google his numbers ...

268-544-000 and 268-582-000 are both on this web page http://www.van-damme.com/22.html

268-565-060 is this http://www.amazon.co.uk/CABLE-SPEAKER-2X6MM-BLUE-268-565-060/dp/B0118JW9ZK

I think a few people on the forum use Van Damme Blue 2x6mm and could have answered if the guy hadn't (literally) been writing in codes!
