1. Age 36-45
2. Profession - Advertising
3. How much on average do you spend yearly on hifi equipment? £1,500
4. Which particular brand do you currently favour for your hifi equipment? Many
5. Do you think the products currently available on the market are reasonably priced when considering the technology and quality? Yes, especially given the fact that many are niche products that sell in tiny quantities
6. Would you like to see a hifi which combined vinyl,cd, and mp3? Not really
7. If there were a hifi availaible to you which could convert your old vinyl into mp3 format how much would you be willing to spend? £zero
8. Are there any brands you particularly dislike? If yes, please state why? No
9. Do you have one particular brand of hifi which you have purhchased for a number of years? if yes, which one. Arcam
10. which medium of advertising do you feel reaches you best? SMS/Email/TV/Radio/Billboard/Magazine/Newspaper/Letter to your home/Other. Magazines and Direct Marketing

Of course by getting research from consumers on a site like this, you will get very biased results compared to that you would get from asking the general public at large who buy their hifi equipment from Dixons et al.

6. No.
7. £0: I would only consider digitising my vinyl using a better-than-CD format.
8. No.

1. 46-55

2. retired

3. yearly is too difficult to say but say in a five year spance- about £2.000- £3000

4. marantz, sony and onkyo and Tannoy Arena speakers.

5. No , not really... great sounding equipment that it is... mostly it is all overpriced for what it actually is ... if truth be told mostly we are all getting done on the prices of equipment by a few hundred %.

6. No, separates are better. (my opinion)

7. I wouldn't want to as I like my record collection as is (more of an open sound if you will) mp3's are just for convenience.

8. Like the other fellow, Philips (it was a £70.00 mp3 player at the time and the wee line control stopped working several times, cost a good few pounds each time for a new line-control for it grrr)

9. Not really

10. Mags and email.

26-35

2. Profession
Retail/Sales Consultant - Consumer Electronics industry
Semi-professional pianist/keyboard player

3. How much on average do you spend yearly on hifi equipment?
Reasonably cost neutral - buying and selling tends to fund my purchases.

4. Which particular brand do you currently favour for your hifi equipment?
No one particular brand.

5. Do you think the products currently available on the market are reasonably priced when considering the technology and quality?
Some products are but there are some over-priced components around.

6. Would you like to see a hifi which combined vinyl,cd, and mp3?
No.

7. If there were a hifi availaible to you which could convert your old vinyl into mp3 format how much would you be willing to spend?
Absolutely nothing. Why degrade the sound from a quality format?

8. Are there any brands you particularly dislike? If yes, please state why?
No. I think its fairer to judge each piece of equipment on its own merits.

9. Do you have one particular brand of hifi which you have purhchased for a number of years? if yes, which one.
No. I've purchased all sorts, although Cambridge Audio has been a recurring theme over the last couple of years.

10. which medium of advertising do you feel reaches you best? SMS/Email/TV/Radio/Billboard/Magazine/Newspaper/Letter to your home/Other.
Advertising in specialist magazines and letters to my home.

I'm a 2nd year Fashion Marketing student at London Met, this is part of my marketing module for a group presentation we have to create a new product within the hifi industry. I can't send you a link to anything as you have to have a login and password to access our weblearn and you won't be able to see it. If you have a problem with this, let me know.
