Just read the article on the home page listing a best picture for testing your tv on the front page. I have to admit I disagree with most of the films listed, 9 out of 10 actually.
While this is a subjective issue I thought it would be good if we all gave our recommendations. I'll list mine see if you agree.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2015)
This is not a film that will test anyone but the picture (and sound) is awsome!!!. As a tester it offers everything - fast motion, dark and bright scenes, fine detail, texture - it has it all.
Star Trek into Darkness
The opening scene on the Red Planet.......try it.
Inception
A genuinly amazing film that demands multiple viewing - the sound alone is worth the cost of entry. But the picture, sublime. The scale of some scenes, the first 'Dream' when the newest recruit starts to manipulate the scenerery, the depth and detail.....awsome!!!
Watchmen
Very cinematic movie good for testing blacks, contrast and colour. It looks like a film.
Elysium
The film is pretty rubbish but the scene were you fly over the 'Ring' or space thing where the rich live detail and motion - its cgi but a good tester.
District9
nice pallette on this good detail too.
Alien/Alien3
Gets better by the year, must have boxset. Some of the SFX are getting a little ropey now and the sound is pretty primative but on BD it is a near perfect picture especially the backgrounds . for testing contrast low light detail.
So there are my choices for testing or setting up TV's, projectors. DVD choices are still the usual suspects imo Blade Runner, the Fith Element and Monsters Inc/The Incredibles/Bugs Life
