Or does it use a compression driver for HF?
Yes it uses a compression driver for the HF. That still has to go somewhere. Compression drivern tweeter assemblies are about the same size as conventional domed tweeter assemblies, give or take a bit.

Its a coaxial 12" driver, with a compression driver mounted on the back which fires through the centre of the driver, similar to Tannoys 'Dual Concentric' drivers although different as they dont use the patented 'pepper pot' or 'tulip' waveguides.

Its clearly shown on the image of the back of the speaker in the second post of this thead ;)

Am having difficulties calling a white rectangular board with two black circles pretty. I can't say it's ugly though (mostly because it's just a white rectangular board with two black circles).

Some people find the Jamo R909 absolutely gorgeous. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's prettier than a 1m tall fake wood rectangular box with some black circles and a hole for a plastic tube, or a 40cm tall rectangular box atop some grey scaffolding pipe ;)
