Mate I'm not arguing. If you go back to my opening thread... To my ears... What is it you have difficulty comprehending?don't bother arguing, I bet most didn't watch the video you linked.

Why should it be exclusive to data centres, Its cheap, it works. I think that's all that matters?Cat 8 is useful, if you want to connect switches in data centres. It's overkill for any domestic installation. You might find short runs of this stuff in Google buildings, but I doubt anyone else would need this bandwidth.
What is Cat8 Ethernet Cable and how is it different?
You might not be familiar with Cat8 ethernet, but you will be soon. Find out what the differences are between Cat8, Cat6a, Cat6, and Cat5e. Get ready to future-proof your network.www.cablesandkits.com
you misinterpreted my post, all i'm saying is nothing will work on some ppl, not even a "to my ears" argument. And I was saying ppl aren't even bothering with checking out the videos you linked, 'cause they "know better".Mate I'm not arguing. If you go back to my opening thread... To my ears... Sometimes I hate being right...I think the reason why Al has felt the need to chip in is that cable threads can be relied upon in two ways:
1) People say the same things, repeatedly, and
2) They become gradually but increasingly polarised/ill-tempered and/or patronising.
And in 230 posts, nobody has changed their mind; nobody has even opened their mind. Everyone thinks exactly the same as when the post started.Sometimes I hate being right...
My point entirely - I wouldn't be so bothered if people said their thing once and moved on, but that's not how cable threads work. Ten pages of round and round the garden...And in 230 posts, nobody has changed their mind; nobody has even opened their mind. Everyone thinks exactly the same as when the post started.
Doesn't surprise (or bother) me.My point entirely - I wouldn't be so bothered if people said their thing once and moved on, but that's not how cable threads work. Ten pages of round and round the garden...
Doesn't surprise (or bother) me.
Feelings are bound to be strong.
One side are being told they're imagining things.
The other side are (effectively) being asked not to rule out that Father Christmas is real.
No worries, thanks for clarifying.you misinterpreted my post, all i'm saying is nothing will work on some ppl, not even a "to my ears" argument. And I was saying ppl aren't even bothering with checking out the videos you linked, 'cause they "know better".
The article clearly states that "All audio data is transferred over isochronous transfers" and that for isochronous transfers "The data has a CRC as normal, but if the receiving side detects an error there is no resend mechanism.USB cables use computer protocols to transmit data (If they didn't they would not be able to communicate with USB equipment, so checks and balances are in place.
You are confusing sp-dif with USB, sp-dif does indeed transmit the digital audio data live, however USB does not.

Did you watch the video OP linked? 'Cause it seems to me like sometimes one side just wants to stick fingers in their ears and go "lalalalala".Doesn't surprise (or bother) me.

Honestly it was well intended, I never imagined such polarity but hey-ho lessons have been learnt.Sometimes I hate being right...
Well, some of us know a bit more technical stuff with regards to cables in communication applications. Unfortunately these extra facts are ignored even when presented before the "can't hear a difference" crowd.Honestly it was well intended, I never imagined such polarity but hey-ho lessons have been learnt.
There were overtones of McCarthyism, a vociferous campaign against allegederr sorry, communists
USBeeist, alas, I have inadvertently knocked back our cause into the bosom of darkness.
The Nayers with their superior numbers are forcing us back into the closet but I say to all USBeeist be brave, be bold, speak out and be counted, you are not one nor a zero, but you are a faithful reproduction of the music.
Yeah that was crass....
Thank you both for your patience and direction

Thank you for bringing 'a welcome balance' into this thread.Well, some of us know a bit more technical stuff with regards to cables in communication applications. Unfortunately these extra facts are ignored even when presented before the "can't hear a difference" crowd.
There may or may not be an audible difference, but 0 an 1s can be altered in USB transmission because USB transmission works in a different mode for Audio, as post #84 explained and post #237 repeated.
Just my take on it, but that feels like it reinforces what I said about being patronising. You could have said 'believe something for which there is no rational basis/no evidence'.One side are being told they're imagining things.
The other side are (effectively) being asked not to rule out that Father Christmas is real.
Confucius say, “Repetition is the mother of invention.”I'm just surprised that people don't get bored with saying the same things over and over.
I did watch the one he linked to about USB cables because I never stick my fingers in my ears.Did you watch the video OP linked? 'Cause it seems to me like sometimes one side just wants to stick fingers in their ears and go "lalalalala".
Lots of people genuinely believe In Father Christmas, he gets lots of good reviews. You could have said 'believe something for which there is no rational basis/no evidence'.
Opinions are like a***holes; my wife keeps hers to herself!Opinions are just that, opinions, I have mine, you have yours.
The transmission protocol is different, the 0 & 1s remain the same, nice try though.Well, some of us know a bit more technical stuff with regards to cables in communication applications. Unfortunately these extra facts are ignored even when presented before the "can't hear a difference" crowd.
