The absurd size of the box of the Panasonic TX-P65VT65B plasma

Indulge me, folks. Why I am mentioning the box of a machine that's been extinct for over a year? I meant to do this quite some time ago, and it's now in the context of my new Sony television.

All these TV are shipped with the boxes from factories across the globe. Imagine the space wastage when shipping 1000 boxes!

Aha! From the link that I gave in post #11 above, I didn't realise that after selecting the Pre-owned link, you have to CLICK on the round "Pre-owned" sign! Ta.

Here is a picture of my dear friend Ann, to whom I gave my old Samsung PS64D8000 plasma, at Christmas 2014. Ann is 5'8" tall. The Samsung box is itself very big, but it is overshadowed by the enormous box of the (then) new Panasonic 65VT65. Why on earth is the Panasonic box about a foot longer than the already very big Samsung box, for only one extra inch of screen size?

Now, here (slightly blurry, sorry) is the Panasonic box, of a 65" television, against the box of my new Sony, a 75" machine, 10 diagonal inches bigger! With it are two Richer Sounds staff who delivered the Sony, the taller of whom is 6' 3"! The Panasonic box is taller than he! A little while after I took this photo he actually stood inside the Panasonic box! I know that the Panasonic has to be protected, but no more so than the Samsung in the previous box, and it's plain daft that the Panasonic's box is bigger than that of a machine ten inches bigger! The Sony was delivered on Saturday 13th February.
