Subwoofer placement - front firing woofer

i currently have my sub placed in a corner as described in the manual pointing out into the room towards my listening position - since bass is omnidirectonal at that level will i destroy the soundstage/setup if i leave the sub in the same position but turn it through 90 so now fires down the length of wall instead of into the room ie 90 degrees to my seated position - anyone tried this?

My sub is almost firing in the same way as yours (it's angled so fires along, but also into the wall slightly), but that's more down to the design of the PV1 (twin drivers, opposed, firing sideways) than any conscious decision on my part.

I have played around with it though, and preferred the sound with it angled in this way, rather than facing stright into the room and firing parrallel to the wall. I also moved it about 30/40 CMs from the corner, any closer it starts to make the bass too resonant.

Try it!

Some subs will work more efficiently when pointed at a solid wall, and it sometimes gives more punch too, so you could also try that too.

Anything goes for subs! I get the best sound out of my REL Quake when I stack five large slate tiles onto it! Gets rid of the flab.

i do intend to try it but have been relaying a patio all day so thought would get some feedback first - also the thing weighs 40kg and is on a 10kg granite slab that doesn't slide so thought before i wasted a load on energy would ask
