I have this amp/pre http://www.richardbrice.net/quad33&303.htm

and these speakers: http://www.kef.com/history/1980/celeste4.asp

Is it possible to add a subwoofer to these? I mainly listen to electronic music, and would like more deep bass definition. Any recommendations? My budget is not huge, what with being a student and all that.

I'm not sure how I would connect one with this amp/pre setup?

I'd imagine, output from the pre goes into the sub, and then the speaker output from the sub goes into the poweramp, which goes into the speakers?

EDIT: although it may be the fault of the preamp (or maybe amp) that the speakers don't really do anything below 40Hz, in which case having the sub after the preamp would be a bit of a waste of time?

Hi,

You connect the sub to your amp at the speaker terminals. This means you have 2 wires from each terminal. `the sub is powered and will amplify this "low level signal". The filter will filter out the frequency's that your speakers will produce. My speakers go to 40Hz. The sub is set to filter all sounds above 40Hz.

Therefore, speakers = 40Hz and above

Sub = 40Hz and below.ÿ
