Speaker options with Cyrus XP

I'm about to buy the Cyrus XP and was wondering about sympathetic speaker matches. The ATC SCM11 have been lauded, but would the XP have the ooomph to drive them? EB Acoustic EB1s - suitable despite being half the price? Floorstanders like the Monitor Audio RX6s might also be nice but living in an apartment I have to be careful of booming bass, hence a preference for standmounts. Thanks for the advice.

I think a standmount design would be ideal and ATC's SCM11's should do the trick. The SCM11's use the same studio quality CLD mid/bass drive unit as used in the SCM16 professional speakers. They are also a closed box design and more importantly are flat and honest in their presentation which will help with placing them close to walls without the bass in particular getting itself into a twist.

As long as you are not planning to listen at constant disco like levels than the Cyrus amp has enough quality of power for the SCM11's. Later on you can also add another Cyrus amp and biamp the SCM11's which will help bring even more out of the system.

I would definitely consider the scm11, or if you can stretch to the scm19 or find a used pair. The scm11's have won several Whathifi awards now due to unmatched performance in their price range. And the scm19's are worth the extra if you can stretch to them. Where are you based yourself? If near Derby, give musicraft a call for a demo.

Ive used various speakers over the last 15 years from different price ranges and in different size room's, including PMC IB1's and B&W N803's.
Most recently i had a pair of PMC DB1i's but could never get an even frequency response in room, no matter how i positioned them. I always found this a problem with front or rear ported design's over the years.

So i upgraded to some ATC scm19's which are a sealed box design and was amazed. Firstly just by the sheer increase in sound quality and truth to the recording. And secondly, any room issues with bass boom and peaks and dips in frequency response were now gone.

So i now had the most accurate sound reproduction ive ever experienced at real world money compared to some of the speakers ive owned costing several times the price of the ATC's.

They will also work perfectly well with even a 50w amp and are such great speakers that they will withstand future upgrades in source and amplification.

LOL, I wouldn't go quite that far! They're bloody good though and exactly my cup of tea. Worth an audition on the Cyrus 8 kit.

I'm going to wait to hear whether the OP is thinking of a 6xp or an 8xp before making any recommendations.

I use Kef iQ50 with my Cyrus setup as the Bass is not intrusive and these slim floorstanders are easier to accommodate. Because of the shape of my living room they are placed in a L configuration but I don't have to worry about a sweet spot owing to the setup of the tweeter/bass sections of the speaker. They sound good with wifi too.

Don,t know about that potboyslim, as i said in another thread, i took my kit along to a cyrus dealer and compaired, wasn,t too impressed with cyrus on the end, sounded like listening to the same music through a window that had been closed compaired to the suggy.

Well I had an 8 VS and now a Pre/power combi. My German dealers recommendation for speaker cable would be Phonosophie who have a UK distributor as well. This cable is not cheap - I paid 40 Euros per Meter.

Before I had a Linn K 20 and then was trying Atlas Hyper 2.0.Finally it came to Phonosophie which is recommended cable for Naim systems in Germany too.. My dealer says and he was right it is also very good for Cyrus set ups.
