Im torn between the phillips new 42" lcd ( 42PFL9703D/10) and a sony bravia.

Id also like to know what is the top range bravia? there are so many model numbers its confusing!

Or can anyone recommend a better lcd i should go for? if i dont get an lcd then i think im set on getitng the 42" panny pz85 but im a little concerned about burn in and reflection issues.

Stop worrying and get the Panasonic Plasma! Screenburn is not really a issue on modern Plasma sets as has been pointed out numerious time on these forums before (simply type screen burn into the search bar to read them), also morden Plasma sets reflect far less than older ones, I use mine during the day time and get virtually no reflection at all and definatly not one that would distract your viewing.

Trust me Go Plasma!!!!

Id almost decided on this myself but i saw the new bravia this weekend ( its got like glass outer frame) at a friends place and it was AMAZING the picture quality was simply mind blowing. Also I liked the sound of the clear lcd tech on the phillips. Am i right in thinking if i was to go for lcd the phillips is better?

What I find quite amusing is that the Philips panels are sourced from LG and the Sony from Samsung. I would go with the Sony. Philips do produce a lovely picture but perhaps aren't the most reliable

X series is the top of the Sony LCD Range.

I believe the KDL (insert inches here) X3500 is the current top model.

Hope that helps!

I have the 42"PZ85 plasma and it's very very good. Had mine for about 3 weeks now and have had no problems what so ever. No image retention, screen burn or anything else for that matter. Even a 6.5 hour gaming session on the ps3 and no issues what so ever.

As for the screen reflection, well my plasma is a lot less reflective than my old 32" Pany quintrix crt. The Pany has an ant reflective treatment on the glass, so are much better than crt tv's.

What I will say is that my brother has a 1 year old 40" Sony Bravia lcd (W2000) , and the plasma is a HUGE step up in picture quality. No motion blur what so ever and very rich dark blacks. Also much clearer and more detailed than the lcd. Especially in fast motion scenes on films or games etc.

Try and have a look in a retail store at lcd and plasma and see what you prefer. But I would be very suprised if you didn't go for a plasma.

I would say Sony, but then again I own one!

My W3000 gives a brilliant picture, plus i liked the styling more than the X series as it doesn't have the glass frame.

The W2000 must be almost 2 years old now so I wouldn't read anything into that comparison.
