I am thinking of replacing my old Onkyo TX-SR875 with a newer AV receiver either a Pioneer SC-LX59 or Marantz SR7010.

Which one would you recommend and what sort of difference in sound should I expect between my old amp and the Pioneer or Marantz (I plan to use it in 5.1 and then add 2 speakers for 5.1.2 later)?

I have Mission Cinema 7 speakers at the front, Yamaha surrounds at the back and a REL Q50 subwoofer.

Is the X4200 at the same level as the Pioneer SC-LX59 and Marantz R7010 (both look to be at a different price point)?

It is also true that Denon and Marantz are the same internally?

Will you be installing atmos/ dtsx setup?

yes Denon and marantz are companies of the same owner and do use similar parts internally. The marantz is supposed to be more musically according to some owners. The denons are recieving great reviews right from the basic 2200 to the flagship 7200 and x4200 sits somewhere in the middle.

Unless you plan to upgrade all your speakers then I wouldn't spend as much monry on a receiver - you won't get any where near the best out of it.
