Repair my Marantz CD Player or go for a BR player?

Hi,

I've just moved into a new apartment and recently set up part of my home theatre setup.

Now my Marantz 67 Mk II SE CD player won't open the tray, so I've had to listen to CDs through an Acer laptop (with HDMI connection).

Anyway, is it worth repairing my Marantz? I do love the sound.

Or do I just get a good BluRay player? Can good BR players deliver the sonic qualities of a dedicated CD player?

EDIT: I realized i wrote that I have a 63 MKII SE when I have a 67MKII SE.

Hi,

A dedicated CD player will always outgun a similarly priced BD player.

Have you had the Marantz checked to have a cost of repair?

Define 'good'.

If you give further details on the rest of your system, we may be able to assist you further.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Hi,

I realized I indicated the wrong model. It's a 67 Mk II SE.

I've submitted it for cost quote. I'm hoping it won't cost much to repair and that it will come in handy in future.

By good, I mean that it was very enjoyable to listen to and I couldn't really fault it for the price. It's not something I can say easily with all the different kit i've used over the years. Usually there's always something to complain about - no matter what price category you bought.
