The Storm is more expensive costs 3490.00 GBP . the MF was defeated in knock out by the Storm Audio :O

Sometimes that extra £1k is worth paying! :shifty:

Nb. You are in Leema Tucana 11 and Electrocompaniet ECI-5 Mk11 territory.

As well as the Sugden Masterclass Integrated, which is reputed to work very well with ProAcs....

Isac69 - as I mentioned in an earlier post, I last listened to the Studio 140s being driven very impressively by Karan's integrated amp which I think costs roughly the same as the Storm Audio. Might be worth checking out?

Good luck!:)

Thanks all for your reccomendations I will check the above mention amps .

Please note that Storm Audio V55 is a very serious amp although it is not mention much in this forum ( maybe because it is French and not English origin  ) If you have the possebility please demo it and see ...

Hi all ,

Finally I bought the Proac Studio 140 Mk2 , it is not in stock and will probably arrived in the next 2 weeks to me , I auditioned them with my dealer

with the Roksan Kandy K2 ( which I own ) and the Caspian . I was surprised to find out that the Kandy delivered more powerfull and authoritive sound than the Caspian which I found too smooth and soft .the best results were with the Storm Audio V55 but it is too expensive for me . maybe

I disqualified the Caspian too quicky ? Maybe I should loan the Caspian to my home from my dealer for the whole weekend to check it more seriously after I receive my Proacs ?

I am going to receive my Proacs soon . I heard the combination of power amp Rotel RB-1582 and pre amp Rotel RC-1580 in a freind house ,

he drives the B&W CM5 with them , the sound was stunning : very powerfull , detailed , spacious and natural . I must admit that I was shocked .

Compare to them my Roksan Kandy sounds muddy and blur .

Someone own them / has experience with the Rotel combination ? are they a good match for the Proac 140 ?

I bought the 140 Mk2 2 weeks ago & partner ir with Audiolab 8200CD & 8200A Integrated in bi-wire setting, I'm very very happy with it. Planning to add 8200P for bi-amping next month.

Like you, I did audition the D18 before decided to stick with the 140 because the D18 was a lttle bit too soft & lack of punch for my musics, I'm listening to mostly rock to extreme metal only. I'm sure the 140 will stay with me for a long time (before moving to higher level ProAc's speakers) & hope you'll enjoy yours too.

I have heard the D18s driven quite well by the lower Rotel pre/power combo (C165/275 BEE) so I think you shouldn't have problems with the 1582/1580.

I think that the D-18 is more demanding speaker than the 140 mk2 and need more powfull amp , The 140 can bring good results evn from

modest amps . I am thinking to upgrade my Kandy and have some options in mind :

Rotel RB1582/RC1580

AUDIOLAB 8200MB mono x2 / pre 8200Q

Storm Audio V55 mb integrated

Cayin H-80A

What do you think ?

Just received my Proacs today !

I am realy amazed: the sound is organized , spacious , noble and elegant everything is in control . the bass is soft and pleasant .

I am very suprised from the match with the Roksan Kandy K2 , reaching to high level volume just on "9 o'clock" volume it shows how

easy to move the Proacs even from modest amp . I thought to upgrade my amp soon but I am not sure aout it anymore I think the match with the Kandy is realy great !

Hi

Received the Rotel RB1582/RC1580 pre/power combination last week and it is a big step forward than the Roksan Kandy which I sold :

- The mid-bass drivers were overshadow the twitters now they completely opened up and there is more balance .

- The mid used to be sometimes a bit sharp / edgy now it's more natural and pleasant .

- The bass has more complex texture , it's more soft and calm with the Roksan it was a bit aggresive .

- The sound is tight and neutral with the Roksan it was a bit worm some may find it unpleasant and dry but I like the "neutral studio" sound .

- The notes have more body and presence seems the RB-1582 has a lot more control on the speakers.

- The soundstage is more spacious , stable and focused .

I can recommend the Rotel RB1582/RC1580 pre/power combination if you like your sound tight, neutral and analytic. if you want your

sound to be worm and colourful look in other places .
