Question on digital out from TV

Ok, this may sound like a stupid question to the experts out there, but...

My PVR and Blu ray player connect via HDMI to the TV. The TV has a digital out connected to an external DAC - does the audio from the PVR and BDP pass through the TV and out to the DAC "unmolested" or would it be degraded in any way and can this work with the TV in stand by if I were using the BDP to play a CD?

Actually, would I even hear any difference from the TV's analogue output?

DAC will also be used for music from a laptop.

The reason I ask is that if each component had to be individually connected to the DAC it would limit my choice of DAC to those having sufficient inputs.

Well some dont even pass audio out to the digital out if the source is anything other than the on board decoder.

So what is the TV. Also dont forget a DAC will only handle stereo. So you will have to get the inputs downmixed to two channel anyway.
