I am trying to understand what the QED Qonduit mains hub actually do.

the literature has a bit of specifics re its surge protechtion abilities, which is good. but I am struggling to find any specific info on its filtration abiliites.

I have wrote to QED with the question but all I got so far is a reply signed by a web developer of a different company (?!) with reference to another brochure here (page 17) - http://www.armourhome.co.uk/downloads/-product_guides/product_guide_autumn_winter_2009_issue_17/PG_09_176_203.pdf

It has the same info re surge protection again and zero info re filtration. the graph is only illustrative and has no scale. it is also not clear what kind of signal the curve on the graph represents.

So, what exactly does it do? What does it filter out and to what degree? Does anybody know where to get the info?

Hi AlmaataKZ

In the first instance i will suggest plugging all of your components directly into wall sockets. However if you need an extension block with surge protection than i can highly recommend ones from Wilkinson stores. I have used these for years and they have also not had negative effects on performance regardless of components or locations used.

All the best

Rick,

thanks for the recommendation. but why do you recommend these ones and not other ones?

do you have any quantitative info on any of the products in this thread?

When a dealer is telling you to buy cheap and simple, it's time to believe him. If he said "you need this expensive mains thingy that I can sell you" that would be more questionable, don't you think?

Yep, I have no problem with the cheap extension cords and blocks recommended. It is the expensive ones that I want to find out about - no info anywhere about these QEDs. Not even from QED itself...

Hi AlmaataKZ

I am sorry for my late reply.

After having tried after market extension blocks which have been in production/sale over the last few years frankly all of them have had a negative effect on performance.

The Wilkinson mains extension blocks enable connected components continue to breathe.

All the best
