I have a little contact vibration speaker

It comes with a custom cable that has a USB connection to the speaker and a 3.5mm jack that you connect to your source. I’ve been using it with an Ipod and I works well.

I would like to be able to connect a mircorphone but am having some problems.

This is the microphone I’m using.

I’ve connected it to a a guitar amp I have so I know it works.

As I have to 3.5mm jack, I attempted to use one of these

to connect them.

But unfortunately its not working.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I can't get any of those links to work, probably because of my works server.
But just reading what you typed, if the input on your speaker expects a line-level source, such as the headphone output from your iPod, then chances are the input sensitivity is too low for it to work with a microphone. You'd need some kind of mike pre-amp inbetween.
Of course that might be a load of lobbox because I can't get the links to work so I can't see exactly what you're on about.

Yes, you need an amplifier in between, specifically you need one with a microphone input as the output from a mic is very low level.

What are you actually trying to do that you want to connect the two?

Can you reccommed one or where best to look? It would need to be battery powered one. Do such things exist?

I want to see if I can use the vibration speaker in a rowing boat for the coxwain to communicate with the athletes. I've attached it to the hull and played music thru it and its seems really good. If I can get a microphone connected to it it would be a really inexpensive way of implementing a communication system.

Oh, I see, sounds interesting.

Have a look here http://www.thomann.de/gb/battery_operated_amplifiers.html for inspiration. You'll find these and similar products on a number of websites.
