alright, just wondering if anyone else has had bad experiences with connecting these cables to sky/blue ray players? it's just that i bought an old russ andrews one of ebay, had it tested (all good) but the figure of 8 plug was shorter than the supplied sky cable. this meant that it could not connect as well and was slightly loose. this resulted in electrical 'clicking' sounds when plugging it into the sky box with it already plugged in. i've looked at the merlin one as well and the connection again seems shorter so it wont be as a snug fit as bog standar figure of 8 cables.

I had similar issues with the Russ Andrews IEC-to-figure 8 adapter which I used with a regular R.A. 'Yello' cable.

A change to a dedicated R.A Powerkord-8 solved this problem.

chudleighpaul:Use the cable that came with box/player, they are perfectly adequate. Anything else is a waste of money.

The power cable that is supplied with a product is adequate for the job and does it's purpose but for those who strive for perfection in their system or setup will buy premium power cables (like myself) as they can see the difference it makes to the picture, sound or both. It is upto the buyer if they want to upgrade their power cable/s as the buyer is the only person who can say if they see or hear a difference, no one else.

I'll recommend using the standard mains cables supplied with the components.
