The review even pointed out it was a step backwards, so would be interesting to see what you think of the W805 if you demo it against what you already have.
I think the more and more I look the more and more it points for me to stick to a 50" and see if I want the GT60 or VT65 if I can get it all sorted out with my retailer for replacement or money back on my 50GT50. The Panny 55VT65 is just to big because of the bulky frame and is expensive for me, which is why I will also probably rule out the W905 and phillips, purely on cost. Dont think I can convince the better half to spending over 2K on a TV. Plus by sticking to a 50" it might allow me to justify a swap to OLED in 5-6 years time to get a 55" then.
Happy demoing Oldboy and keep us posted when you decide what to demo and how it goes.
Cheers
Yes unfortunately I think it's a step too far backwards for me but I will still demo one for comparison.
How are things going with your situation now? Has the replacement GT50 turned out to be any better after a run in? It sounds like you have a GT60 or VT65 on your mind so I preume the GT50 is going back? It's a shame a 55 inch won't quite fit and is a bit over budget but then we all have restrictions of space, cash and those other halves place on us so something has to give eh.
My next tv is intended to last me until OLED becomes available at large screen sizes at the price point of current tvs and so a 5 year guarantee is essential as I'm sure that's a minimum amount of time it will take for that to happen maybe even longer and I won't want to buy another tv before then.
Will report back with the demo results of the 55VT65 but until then I will continue to look for tvs to add to my list and will appreciate everyones thoughts as usual.
