I am looking at changing my TV in my living room. I presently have a panasonic 42 px60 which has been great - but is starting to suffer from purple patches in dark scenes (especially in HD broadcasts through SKY HD).

I sit approx 4 metres away from the screen and I am looking for a max television size of 50.

Budget is around £1500 (subject to better half approval) and I have narrowed down to 2 plasma's ( do not like the cartoon effect of LCD - IMHO):

PANASONIC V20

SAMSUNG C7000.

I have seen both TV's (not set up greatly) and the Samsung looks stunning, but I can not find many reviews compared to some excellent ones on the Panasonic - plus is it style over substance.

Finally - would either of the above be a big setup from my present set (watching mainly HD broadcasts from SKY HD).

there is one very indepth review online for that samsung , i cant post a link its against house rules ..

anyway , the verdict was excellent , great with 2d and 3d , with very little crosstalk ..

the v20 is said to be virtually as good as the vt20 but without 3d , so id guess its just slightly better than the samsung , but no 3d of course ..

im actually also considering both , but have yet to find a sammy to demo , until i do im undecided , but if its nearly as good as the v20 , seeing as its cheaper and has 3d , ill get one ..

i would say both will be a noticeable upgrade to your current tv ..imo..

I did not get a chance to really look at the Samsung in great detail as my two daughters were interested in trying the 3D glasses on another Samsung led (c750 I think) !!

thats great value too imo , but i think the sammy plasma may be better with 3d due to neglible crosstalk , deeper blacks , shadow detail and motion too most likely ..

I must admit the 3D effect looked good on the C750 (when I got a chance to have a look), but still prefer the more natural look of the plasma picture.

By the way any ideas what this purple patching could be and whether it can be fixed. Present TV is nearly 4 years old.
