Panasonic DMR-EZ27 not wanting to turn off!

Having recently bought on of these, I have become a bit concerned that the neither the remote nor the unit power button actually switches it off when I want tit to. Everything else is working just fine, but cannot work out what I've done. Not been able to find a satisfactory answer online, any clues on here folks? Cheers!

It has happened may times since I posted that, and is starting to get annoying. Did you ever manage to find an answer?
