I remember paying £2500 for my 37" HD ready Panasonic plasma in 2005. I've just done an online inflation calculation, and according to the Bank of England that today* would be £3256+ which is not far short of the 55" price. However, this is still expensive in relation to other TV's in todays market.

I think this will beat the LG 55ec930v. I've seen this TV about 10 times now and to be honest it isn't very good! I think Oled could be about to bum for a while at least.

I just had a demo of it in John Lewis and it is pretty good. It was on a 4K demo and it did look nice, better than the Samsung's. It's better than the Panasonic 802 too. You could tell it was 4K on a 55inch, still prefer my Oled though.

Went into a Richer Sounds and had a demo session of the TV. Got to play / fiddle with the options of which there are plenty of.
My main concern was the upscale of Blue Rays / HD content I was sceptical at first with the upscaling to 55" with nativve 4K resolution after playing and demoing I must say it does a preaty good job one of the best iv seen.
I used Casino Royal, Star Trek 2, Despicable Me and Rush as testing, The blacks are really black and the whites are really white/bright and the contrast colours really good (my current TV is a Phillips 9700 series with moth eye of which to me is a good screen in terms of blacks and colours). The motion is very smooth with processing set to min. I cant stand the judder on motion.
The thing that was noticiable is the computer generated graphics in some films was just more noticible on the Pany screen.
The Blue ray player was on the new Pioneer LX-58 and what a machine that is, defientely purchasing one of those.
Build quality amasing built like a tank, Picture is awesome to.
All the upscaling was turned off on the Player and left the TV to do its magic.
In all honesty I love the TV, its just the price £3500 is a bit steep but hey your paying for tech and in all honesty my personal view the TV looks and plays very well i prefer it then the Sasmung / Sony equicalent High End screens.
and yes i hear that input lag is high but for me it is not a concern, Im a PC users and play with 2K and 4K, intresting that the Pany has a DVI input so in theory should be able to attach the PC to it and play in 4K native mode should be intresting.
But Primary use id for films/movies.
Currently there is no 4K 55 OLED screens and im sure when they do come they will probably be alot more then £3500.
So yeah seriously contending in getting one of these and if people are intrested or intrigued get a demo of it and play around with it, its fun and its seriously good (just my opinion).

I am calibrating an AX902 on Thursday so will be able to feedback some thoughts shortly after. This will primarily be in conjunction with a Lumagen 2143 so I am expecting to get awesome results. However, I'll also be using the internal controls too to dial in for internal apps such as Netflix. Should be a very interesting day.

You may know this already so apologies if so....download the app for the tv on a tablet and play with the calibration through it, its not bad.

I saw an AX902 in Richer Sounds last week, the manager stayed with me for about five minutes. Yes, the AX902 (55-inch-version) looked good, but not - to me anyway - any better than the Samsung HU7500 flat and HU8500 curved, which are significantly cheaper.

(Just replying, not quoting, heh-heh!) Yes, I saw some 4K material on it, but it's difficult to compare with the 4K material that was being shown on the Samsungs because each manufacturer seems to release 4K test material that can be shown only their own televisions, not on other people's televisions. So the 4K material on the Panasonic seemed to me no better than the Samsung 4K material on the Samsung sets. Further, I saw Pacific Rim upscaled to 4K on the Panasonic, and again, it looked decent, but I certainly didn't go "Wow!" Maybe I'm a bit spoiled with my own kit?
Yep, I saw most of those demos too. I think I would give the Panasonic the edge. 4K on normal settings not dynamic doesnt look that good. I think I will wait to see 4K Blu-Rays and then make a final decision on whether I wish to buy or not.Son_of_SJ said:

If you're asking me, gel, I don't have any particular thoughts about LG OLEDs. I accept that your 55EA980W seems to be universally loved, but the 930C successor less so. I've never particularly lusted after an OLED, whether by LG or Samsung or anyone else. Maybe it's because I still mourn the demise of plasma sets, apart from the last LG plasmas which offer great value for money at Currys. On the other hand, I do lust after a 4K set, specifically the Samsung 75HU75000.
