Hello

I am after a top of the line receiver.

I ended up with the onkyo 5008 and the pioneer 83/37.

Which one of them is a better unit (Amp/processing)?

Thank you for your help

The Onkyo would be my choice of the two, the authority of the 5008 will be brilliant with the D700's. You may also want to look at the Anthem MRX700 another amp that competes head on with these two. Lots of control and the best room eq around.

My money is on the Onkyo! The 73 isn't even in contention.

Have you done a direct comparison of the 3 amps ?

What makes the Onkyo or the Anthem preferred over the Pioneer ?

What different speakers would constitute a change in choice to a different amp for example which amp would suit a high end style sub/sat package ?

I would like to know as i to am interested in the above amps.

At this price point you may want to look into a Pre/Pro and power amp setup.

You may end up paying closer to £3k but will last longer and give a better sound in music and surround. I am really happy with mine!

NADT175HD and Arcam amps......
