OLED a false dawn?

Having recently read that the longevity of OLED screens may down to just 7,000hrs, which could prove a major disadvantage for heavy users such as gamers, and almost definitely rule out the very popular 5yr warranties, what's going to be the successor to LCD/Plasma?

Hopefully nothing for a very long time. I fear small (bout 37") plasmas may be a thing of the past before i get round to getting one too - simply as there arent many around.

I can't see 37" plasma's being replaced by lcd only any time soon. As Pany make both lcd and plasma, and pioneer will be using Pany plasma displays in next years models I think they are here to stay. Have a look at this http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/429414/index.html#anker_429417

As for OLED, well who knows it's still a relatively new technology. I would expect huge steps forward in the technology when they get to grips with it. Just look at the advance in lcd/plasma technology/performance in the last few years.
