completely different beast...Come to think of it.
If I remember correctly. Powering on and holding certain buttons performs some kind of reset.

Your player will either play SACD or it will not, a reset will not resolve that.....Well....
My CD player would not recognise SACDs (bought it second hand)
Reading through the manual. A reset solved the problem.
Mind you, I think that a factory reset is very very rare on these things.

the OP has a CD player.....Aha young man. That's just it.
It began to recognise SACDs after the reset.
Strange but true
Interesting but the OP hasn't been seen on the forum for over 2 yearsHave a Rotel CD14 - CD was distorting on play. Stop the CD and start it again, it usually plays without distortion second time. Other major issue is the CD not loading...just spins, makes sound but doesn't load. Mine used to eject the CD showing an error message for years, now it just keeps spinning and you have to open the CD drawer manually (there is a drawer open tab under the player). I found an easier fix for this...lift the unit slightly and drop it.
The Rotel CD14 has lots of issues - will not be buying another Rotel CD until they do something about them. My unit is effectively useless now...I have had it only 6 years. My original Rotel CD player lasted almost 20 years.
I have not seen any other person mention the manual CD drawer slide under the unit...I thought I would post it as all these comments suggest opening the unit or taking it to be opened by a technician. I was searching for a solution to my issue today (the constant/persistent loading message) and found this older post. My comment was actually written in response to another forum but I needed to register and couldn't be bothered.Interesting but the OP hasn't been seen on the forum for over 2 years
Seems strange they would fit one of these, almost like they had an idea the mechanism would fail at some pointI have not seen any other person mention the manual CD drawer slide under the unit...I thought I would post it as all these comments suggest opening the unit or taking it to be opened by a technician.
