Hello all. I am considering buying used HiFi equipment and would like some feedback and any knowledge into HiFis etc.

I was looking at Dali spektor 2 to pair with a Yamaha RX-V675 (Open to recommendations) with a budget of £200-£300 and this set would cost me £270*ish

However I have a big problem regarding to my TV, It does not have aux/optical etc. It only has Earc output.

But saying that I do own a PC and some other devices but mainly wanted to have the set next to my TV and to also use as TV speakers sometimes.

The AVR I listed is in my opinion very well priced and has everything I could need supposedly with future 7.2ch support.

But any recommendations on wiring, different speakers, different AVRs etc would be most appreciated or thoughts on how the system above would perform.

I've also not heard many speakers but my dad does own some really nice celestions, yamaha amp and an unknown sub in 5.1 which from my memory sounded amazing.

Thankyou in advance. I'm big into music but HiFis got a bit confusing for me especially as I am limited to ARC via HDMI.

I was also considering a small amp and DAC but maybe used AVR is better?

Also I realised I should maybe lsit other speakers I was looking at. Diamond 220. Polk XT20/15, Q acoustics 3020i, Diamond 9.1 10.1 and some others I cannot remember at this moment intime, My watchlist is CRAZY.

OH and the type of music I generally listen to varies from Dean Martin, Kali Ulchis, Rap, Nu metal/Heavy Metal. Basically any genre except RNB. Not sure if super important but thought I would add that. Would just like it to perform well with any genre basically.

Also to mention why I was looking at an AVR it is because it's £100 used with all ports I need and fosi amps etc are £50-£100 and ARC DACs look bad sub £50 and think would impact sound where good ones are £120+ assuming. But I am completely open and can possibly raise budget slightly for better sound but It's just a budget Home Audio/Hi Fi beginner setup I am after and can expand on.

Unfortunately, when it comes down to it, you are talking more home theatre rather than hifi if you are aiming to attach a TV to a receiver.
Perhaps you might get a better response if you post in that subforum.

I understand your answer but the main use would be for music. Future possible home theatreish. But my main priority is just good speakers/avr for music intro into HIFI. My TV is contracted for 3 more years and If my amp does not have ARC or a DAC that is good then it's not 100% for me. I watch youtube on TV for music and airplay. I also have PC which supports lossless but confused to how it would or if would work at all.

I will have a look but just hoping for good reccomendations on AMP DAC AVR Speakers etc to build my first HIFI setup

Don't worry about your output. Optical doesn't have the bandwidth for 7.1, you will get a sound akin to static when the the DAC is trying to decode incomplete information. HDMI is the best option. I'm not massively familiar with Earc, but it is basically HDMI ARC so they will be compatible.

Yamaha and Sony are basically kings of budget AV, so just shop around to see what you can get for your money.

As your proposed amp has HDMI sockets and your TV has an EARC socket, just use a HDMI cable to connect.

As DG says, you can just connect the TV to the amp via HDMI. Job done on that front.

The pairing should be pretty solid, certainly if this is your first foray into hifi.

The Yamaha amp was well reviewed back when it was released. The only thing lacking is eARC/Atmos support (which is found in modern receivers) but I would say at this stage, that’s nothing major BUT something to consider if you did want to future proof yourself.

Can be surprising how quickly you want to progress with home cinema once you have dabbled. You have been warned. lol

Sorry, I had missed this when I responded yesterday.

You are talking about an AV amp, but you don't seem to want an AV setup. You will get better sound for your money with a stereo setup. The only good reason to go AV is if your priority is TV/Movies

let's get down to brass tacks, what is your budget and how big is your room?

Yeah only reason I was looking at AVR as they are cheap used and have ARC which is essntial to me to connect to the TV. HOWEVER my PC has optical/RCA and I can play lossless audio, I also make music, My budget is £2-£300 Possibly up to £400. I asked whether DAC + AMP would be better but I need ARC and the cheap ones on amazon etc look little dodgy and do not want it affecting my audio another reason I looked at AVR. The option for 5.1 is also cool but my TV is in the corner. My room is about 15ft by 8ft or similar. I would say you could fit a car in here and walk around if that helps as not measured. 2.1 would be nice but I am in a small apartment with neighbours so 2.0 is what I want to start with.

But a reason to connect to TV is airplay/Fire TV music/Easy youtube, Basically streaming but the AVR i found is Airplay compatible. I did write a lot of this information in original post but can accept it can be TLDR for some

Yeah I just wanted to connect to TV for streaming music plus used AVR is cheap, The yamaha looks solid to me but was wondering if better. I'm not fussed with atmos tbh just a solid 2.0 setup for streaming music. I have a sky glass TV and woofer is farting, I have decent 2.1 pc speakers but wanted upgrade hence why also use occasionally for TV watching if better but the sky glass is 3.1.2 so that is probably already better anyway for TV
