Hi everybody, this is another "newbie without a clue" question.

I have a multimedia harddrive that I used to use to store & play DivX and mp3 content. But after finally getting a good home cinema setup - the DivX stuff doesn't cut it. So I want to use the drive just for music. I thought a lossless format would be great... That's where the trouble started. The drive only plays lossy formats. The Yamaha RX-V3800 doesn't play lossless formats either.

I'm looking for a stand alone solution. I don't want to have a PC on all the time streaming music. I'm not really that gifted when it comes to networking anyway. Does anybody know of anything that can playback FLAC or WMA lossless formats and output them via an optical or coax cable to my amp?

Sorry if this a dumb question... but sometimes the obvious escapes me...

Thanks for any replies.

Just in case the obvious is escaping you. Can your existing hard drive play .WAV files. They're big and cumbersome things and lack tag support but I thought they'd be pretty universally playable.
