Hi What Hi-Fi,

Not really a thread, just a plea. Please, please review the Marantz SR-6003. I spent far too long agonising over which AV amp to get before christmas and then went for a demo. Initially went to hear the Yamaha DSP-AX863SE - nice unit. Then the nice chaps suggested I listen to the Marantz. Personally I think it blew the Yamaha away, not for it's multi-channel movie ability but it's 2 channel stereo ability - quite simply way ahead. Now we all want the amp that does it all, movies and music, well I think the marantz makes a damn good attempt.

Review please.

Thanks, Rob.

Thanks for the headsup, I fully intend demo'ing the SR6003 when I eventually come to upgrade and it ticks all the boxes for me at a not too shabby price.

I have to agree. High build quality and feature set as well as the very quick USB input and 2nd HDMI output make the SR6003 our top recommendation at this price point. I would expect it to favour very well in the reviews

How does it stack up power wise? I'm upgrading from a Denon 3805, so am used to a pretty powerful amp. I am looking at a one box solution and am also downsizing (that's the plan anyway) the speakers to bookshelf models.

What happens if it receives a poor review?? Do you then discard it as an option even though you liked it??

At the end of the day what you like is what matters. Although I can understand that a good review does give you piece of mind with your decision!

Thanks Messiah,

Your quite right to point that out. Ulitimately I trust my ears, so it doesn't really matter if it did get a poor review. I suppose I just think it is a shame it has been largely overloked by the Hi-fi press.

A hidden gem!

I have addition quite a few av-recivers over the past while and can confirm Marantz SR-6003 was the best I came across for both music and films to my ears.

It's got every connection you will ever need and build quality way above its price margin. However it's the sound that really knocks you out. It's far better than Yamaha's Yamaha DSP-AX863SE never sounding brittle. In short it's a cracker and can be bought for £639.96 which is real bargain at the price.

Hello,

I got the SR6001, and I run it with the Tannoy Arena. I'm very pleased with the setup for both films and music, so the Tannoys might also be worth a listen with the 6003.

I thought the 6001 sounded very good against other amps, especially for music, so I'm glad they've kept the good work up on the replacement.
