ALL sets will display some very mild or heavy bleed in dark conditions. This is why LED are phasing the older models out.

End of story.

Thats true.

Another way to hide clouding is to buy ambi-lights. I bought 3 neon ambi lights that attatch to the back of the tv. They come with a remote and you can turn them on in the late evening. they elevate the contrast levels and as they are coming from behind the tv, they emphasis blacks, as reduce clouding visibility. I dont have any clouding on my toshiba at all. But i bought these for my A686 which showed clouding. With the lights on....i never noticed it again.

LED technology is not replacing LCD. They are still LCD screens, but just backlit using LEDs rather than more conventional flourescent lamps.

LED back-lights have several advantages in terms of allowing backlighting intensity to change in much finer zones than is possible with conventional lamp technology and, on the evidence of the Sony X4500 (which uses proper RGB Dynamic LED backlighting) much deeper black levels than has previously been possible.

However, an LED backlit TV can, as Electroman points out, exhibit backlight bleed if it has been executed incorrectly (in the case of severe bleed), or simply as a side-effect of LCD technology and/or incorrect settings (in minor cases).
