As above; I'm thinking of purchasing the Denon x4200 and wandered is that it now with the 4K standard? This avr has hdcp.2.2 and is HDR compliant including atmos and dts X: when it comes out.

Will there be any further handshaking upgrades coming out as don't want to be buying another avr in 12 months as I am now from my current x4100..! I only want atmos with 5.1.2 so this avr has enough application for me...

yes. pretty sure, there wont be anything else needed from avr's to work properly with tv's as the hdmi 2.0a and hdcp2.2 is only what is needed and i cant see another disc format coming for the next 10 years (if ever) which will need another hdmi upgrade.

Really? Do you honestly think the manufacturers won't think of SOMETHING to make all our kit obsolete in the next 10 years? They'd go out of business if they don't!

DVD was released in 1995, bluray in 2006 and UHD Bluray in 2016. I think 10 years is a pretty solid bet from precedent, assuming there is another optical format released.

Hmmm.

What you've missed out in between are component to HDMI, now to HDMI 2.0; DTS to DTS-MA, 3D, 4K, front-height speakers (Dolby Prologic Z) and now Atmos, soon-to-be DTS-X. Plenty to keep people thinking their current kit is now out of date.
