is it really worth spending big on rear speakers?

im in the market for a pair of rears, ill probably get some MA bx1's in walnut, to match the rest of my walnut rx gear..

but what about some of these gsfx surrounds on ebay? wouldnt they or other expensive rears be overkill, wasted on my system(in sig) or a similar one? im not really considering such expensive surrounds myself i might add, just wondering whether or not they would be an improvement or money wasted?

any thoughts? ta..

I think you're probably gonna keep your RX6's.....make sense to get the best you can for your buck these days...the RXFX will set you back £400, if you can get the GS rears for not that much more then they will serve you well for God knows how long. I have the GS Centre and it's an immense speaker!

na, im of the belief that rears are the least important of the speakers in a 5.1 setup, afaik they only output 20% of the sound from an average blu-ray actioneer.. i was just wondering what others thought, i guess with my system them gsfx's would be wasted..

The rears need to tonally match else your system would never sound right

i have been considering geting a couple of rotel power amps for the back 4 speakers in my setup and upgrading to mezzo1s rear and side to match the fronts(mezzo2sand5) but this would set me back around 800 plus stands/brackets and im not sure if its gonna be worth it(could just swap the 903s for alumnis like the current rears)
