Right my friend is generous in that he has just purchased a Panasonic PE4000

And has given me he's Hitachi and a 80 inch Hitachi screen for FREE!!!! [😀] (lamp only has 110 hrs on it!!!!!)

Right when I play a movie through my Sony BDP550 or F&H ([:O])

It displays a 1920 x 1080 60HZ in the info on the projector settings!!!????

What display is this please as I know its a 720p native projector??

By the way the picture is fantastic, I have sooooo been missing out. My plasma just aint the same after watching this, god knows what a 1080p projector would be like!!!!

cheers

My projector, and i think others, tend to show the input resolution and frquency.

If your projector is 720P, it'll be downscaling the input signal. You might get better results letting the player downscale first, or possibly not.

Are your players outputting 1080i? Some 720p projectors will accept a 1080i signal and convert to suit. Some newer ones might take a 1080p signal and convert. But you will never get more than 720 lines, as that is the native resolution of the LCD chip in your projector. Usually the projector will tell you exactly what the incoming signal is in the info section.

Most people are gobsmacked when they see a decent projector as most think of projectors in pubs and offices. Far from it. After watching the footy tonight in HD, I was flicking channels, and there was a chat show on with Graham Norton and the picture looked stunning, totally flawless.

This projector is 1280 x 720 and will accept a 1920 x 1080i Signal but NOT a 1920 x 1080p signal.

I own it myself and its absolutely wonderful in comparison to many projectors, really silent in operation. Crystal clear images even though its "only" 720p and no motion blurring like i find on many other LCDs. Finally it offers very wide range lens adjustment.ÿ

Depending how good the downscaling is, you might be better off sending a 720p signal to your PJ. You may or may not see a little extra resolution sending it 1080i.

Id say stick to sending the PJ 720p it certainly looks better on my own Hitachi.ÿ
