What? Like the magazine do!!! Shock, horror.and they could be misinforming the public, due to a bias towards their favourite brand.

Looking at their list of reviews, as far as I could be bothered to scroll, they seem to give everything they review some form of award.HiFi Pig has done their review of the DMP-A8 - check out the link below

EVERSOLO DMP-A8 REVIEW Eversolo DMP-A8 is a fully featured DAC, Streamer and Preamplfier all-in-one box of tricks that costs less than £2000. In this first official UK review, Oscar Stewart takes a listen for HiFi PiG.www.hifipig.com
Perhaps they are sponsored....?Looking at their list of reviews, as far as I could be bothered to scroll, they seem to give everything they review some form of award.
It's a French thing, it's best not to try and understand it, no more peculiar than WHFLooking at their list of reviews, as far as I could be bothered to scroll, they seem to give everything they review some form of award.
I don't doubt it, some are more transparent than others.Perhaps they are sponsored....?

Used to be frequent, but manufacturers/distributors who have received unfavourable reviews before are learning to ignore WHF in case it happens again. Plus, a few have said their demo room favours certain types of speakers. A treated demo room shouldn’t favour any speaker, especially a reviewer’s demo room.WHF might make the same argument, how often do we see anything less than a 4-star review from them?
Again, the cynics might well say it's for financial reasons (but what isn't these days?).
It’s run by a British couple who moved to France. They review stuff, and their reviewer’s based in the U.K. do too. Stu and Lin in France tend to cover more French stuff, for obvious reasons.Sacre Bleu!!!
The Brits must be running this French publication - the narration on the video sounds closer to the Cliffs of Dover than Champ Elysee

Or in other words, their product got a poor review, so they are blaming the reviewers for their product's failings, rather than admit that it might not be as good as they claim.Plus, a few have said their demo room favours certain types of speakers. Exactly, just another planar magnetic headphone. There's a lot of 'em about...These headphones are not game changers.
It wasn't about the headphones Pod Per Se but I take your pointThese headphones are not game changers.
Just because WHF didn’t give a favourable review, it doesn’t mean it was a failing of the product not being up to scratch.Or in other words, their product got a poor review, so they are blaming the reviewers for their product's failings, rather than admit that it might not be as good as they claim.
Doesn't matter how carefully reviewers try to be even-handed and fair, anyone, especially manufacturers and brand fanboys who disagree with their findings, will be likely to claim unfair bias.
I did seriously consider the ET3 but the JF MX Pro digital transport and happy to exclude the CD feature, was much cheaper. I'm very pleased with it.Shanling ET3 is on my shortlist as of now. Terrific looking CD transport with a plethora of connectivity outputs and DSD.
It also doesn't mean it wasn't a failing of the product. Added to which, I did not specify any particular publication.Just because WHF didn’t give a favourable review, it doesn’t mean it was a failing of the product not being up to scratch.
Well in the one specific instance I was specifically thinking of, it WASNT a failing of the speaker. But as I say, it’s a common issue mentioned by a few manufacturers. It also doesn't mean it wasn't a failing of the product. Added to which, I did not specify any particular publication.
Reviews should be taken as guidance, not gospel.
Nicely put!Reviews should be taken as the subject toss they are!
Without a shadow of a doubt, the new Eversolo DMP-A8 (with dual top of the range AKM chipset) due to launch January 2024 is going ruffle some feathers in the DAC/Streamer market.
If the DMP-A6 is about £800-£900, how much will the DMP-A8 cost £1500? I wonder, if they will also release the Master Edition to cement the line?
