Does anyone know if the Harmon Kardon HD980 CD player is any good?

My suspicions tell me yes, but never heard it. The next one up, the HD990 shares a lot of features found in the Cambridge 840C player, including balanced connections, but it comes in for around £500 or so, as opposed to the latter's £800.

I'd be very keen to hear reviews of both (I think Hi Fi World gave one of them a 5 globe review a while back) but looks like WHFS&V aren't getting a review sample. In fairness, it took Klipsch months to get a pair to the mag for their latest speaker range.

£259.00 at pix-mania for the HD990, check it out online. You can always add a excellent external dac to it with balanced XLR's.
